Settings For pro-ject Tubebox DS the manual can be confusing. use the rumble filter if your bass is somewhat loose sounding compared to your other sources. i used it when i had the TBDS - bass sounded better- slightly tighter and more impact.
Does raising speaker cables off the floor really make a big difference? it isn't that extreme, thanks for the suggestion.
Which Int. Amp with passive ATC SCM40 speakers are a horrible match for your room. driver coherence and integration will be noticeably bad which will cause image wander between the drivers. sorry but hopefully you can do something different before it's too late.
Headphone amp as pre amp It can work well but is one line input sufficient? I am currently using a rogue audio RH-5 headphone amp / linestage preamp even though I have no interest in headphones. It sounds amazing and has (4) inputs.
What Ampliffier And Magico A3 I heard a system with Magicos and McIntosh tube preamp / DAC with their 1KW mono block amplifiers. The sound was phenomenal. Should be within your budget.
PrimaLuna Dialogue Preamp = emotionless? PS audio’s voicing tends to be on the warm side and was a good complement to the ATCs "surgical" sound.Introducing a tube preamp does not necessarily mean that it will sound warm but rather sound more transparent with midrange bloom / forwardness,...
Does raising speaker cables off the floor really make a big difference? I like everything in my system to be "just so"- e.g. cables organized, components perfectly aligned and centered in the rack, speakers positioned precisely, speaker cables run neatly, etc.I have the personality that I need visual order. Considering Rogue Audio or P.S. Audio I have heard the RP-5 and Stereo 100 at dealers and shows and it is right up there with the best sounding systems I have ever heard regardless of price. Hum must be related to the user’s home wiring. I have never had any issues. I just took delive...
Please recommend a good Tech in NYC/Brooklyn There was a very good tech mentioned in a Stereophile article and possibly video a year or two ago based in Manhattan I believe. Great reputation and very knowledgable. Worth searching for. Oh - just found it- Blackie Pagano.
Me vs. JL Audio - An open discussion. I have owned different subs including a recent JL Audio D-Series and have heard their E and Fathom series as well as many other brands. Curiously the JLs do really well in the one area you almost never read about in subwoofer reviews- they sound ...
Spendor D7.2 Preamp-Amp Pairing I had the D7s for a while and they sounded incredible with a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II. If you must go solid state I would recommend a tube preamp with solid state amplifier- e.g. Primaluna EVO 100 + Parasound a23+FYI they take at least 200 ho...
Hidden Gems in Pre-Owned Solid State Power Amplifiers? Any love for the Cary solid state power amps? They come up regularly but don't seem to be a dime a dozen like many others....
Hidden Gems in Pre-Owned Solid State Power Amplifiers? hopefully we find that one man's seller's remorse = another man's great deal and not always just a washed up, flawed hand me down. i find that it takes work to get the best out of new pieces in your system, new or used. although there are many r...
Tekton DI's or Klipsch Forte III none of the above
Eh hem!...Subwoofers... What do ya know? Unless you really need the deepest room shaking notes found on that occasional track or action movie sound track- a full range (or near full range) speaker driven by plenty of power is a better solution for me. 100 watts driving the main speakers... |
