Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Off Topic but I wanted to say I switched from a Classe CA-150 amp to a Prima Luna Prologue 5 lastnight and the lightspeed works great on both. No problem whatsoever with using the lightspeed with the Prima Luna; it sounds great! I secretly thank G...
Primaluna ProLogue Five VS. Classe CA-150
Hi, Charles! Thanks for the kind post. Yes sir, this is my first tube amp and I'm really enjoying it. I can't believe the bass I'm getting, and the soundstage has become a little wider and more 3D, not alot but still pretty noticeable. The bass is ...
Need a warm amp for bright speakers
I'm telling ya'all, Paradigms highs are pretty hot; don't even know if they term "bright" describes them properly, because they are very bright.I wouldn't try changing five different components in order to fix one component (well, actually I would...
Anyone Damp the insides of your Speaker Cabinets?
Ptss, would you please start the thread? I start a new thread every other day, and don't want to be labeled "that guy". In all honesty, this is the only site I've ever participated in, in any way, so its a learning experience all the way around fo...
Primaluna ProLogue Five VS. Classe CA-150
Picked up the Prima Luna tonight, initial impressions are "wow".I wonder if you tube guys are keeping this a secret so you don't have more people buying up all the nos tubes.Again, wow!
Thinking I need a Sub...
Neo, it makes total sense if he's trying to sell you a sub...lol.You ought to ask him if you can drive a speaker harder crossed over at 80hz vs. one that is not. I could get an extra 3-4db out of my studio 10's crossed over at 80hz vs not crossed ...
Need a warm amp for bright speakers
Oh my goodness, are you confused about what to do yet?I have been in the hobby for 2 years. In that time, I started with Paradigm Mini Monitors V.6 (loved them!!), went to Studio 10's, 20's,60's,back to 20's (all V.5) then 40's (V.4), so I know th...
Primaluna ProLogue Five VS. Classe CA-150
Wolf, there are things I like about tube amps. For instance, ghe sound, the ability to change the sound with different tubes, the tubes glowing, the cool factor... I'd have to agree, they seem to be more fun.Jmc, I know, brother, I kind of do want...
Primaluna ProLogue Five VS. Classe CA-150
Sorry guys for not giving more info...Pre amp is a lightspeed attenuator Speakers are some Jamo D830 In wall speakers installed in a sealed box. They aren't very efficient.I don't mind giving up some volume if I can gain warmth, bloom etc. I'm pre...
Primaluna ProLogue Five VS. Classe CA-150
Lol, dang it J, that was of no help!I wanted a straightforward answer, not some deep philosophy. I may actually put that on my wall, not even kidding, "Which is stronger? Your sense of adventure, or your fear of failure?". Honestly though, you hit...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Thanks Clio!Well put Lacee. I'm no skeptic when it comes to upgraded power supplies or power cords; they've all made improvents in my system, so I don't know why I'm skeptical over an upgraded power supply for the lightspeed (maybe because someone...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
George,Another quick question: would the lightspeed attenuator work well with a prima luna prologue five tube amp? Input impedance 100 kohminput sensitivity 600 mv (the man. site said 600mv on one page, 775mv on another...)Thanks in advance, George!
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Thanks George. What about painting the exterior chasis of the lightspeed with automotive paint? Yes, no?
Thinking I need a Sub...
I agree that 2 subs are the ticket. I can tellwhere the bass is coming from with just one sub. My single svs ended up dead center between my speakers and sounded best there. I've had issues with integrating a sub into my system but will try again....
Anyone Damp the insides of your Speaker Cabinets?
Ptss, if building a box from scratch (or even retrofitting), whats the best way to brace it? I was thinking it would be most effective to put shelves throughout that fit snug on all corners of the cabinet and then either cutting a bunch of small c...
