Sound meter + equalizer = problem solved?
Digital room correction is like a spare tire, hopefully you never have to use it.
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system?
Retired. 3 hours each day on average. Usually my happy hour, 4 to 7pm. Grew up around bands and listening to music all the time til 21. Then worked my arse off and started my own businesses starting at 26 years old, meaning spent many years after ...
Jim Gordon has Passed On...
The jam sessions of all things must pass is some of Jim Gordon's best. However drumming is only a small part of life and history definitely won't remember him for that.
CD TRANSPORT THAT MAKES AN AUDIBLE DIFFERENCE
@asctim  For one thing the clock on the Jay's is excellent. I also connected to the dac via I2s. The cambridge CXC is not fancy that way.
Women Who Rock
What happened to any kind of sense of humor on this site. The Miley Cyrus mention was hilarious. Mine was in much worse taste lol.
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s?
I wish I was an audiophile back then. But in the 80s and 90s I was too busy earning a living running my own businesses. Fortunately it paid off, so now I can be one. Been a music lover since the 60s, had to wait for retirement to focus into sound.
Women Who Rock
Barbara Streisand, Betty Middler and Liza Minelli. After that female rock was dead.
Finally...Pictures!
Nice, my only comment is you need to move those towers away from the front wall if at all possible. You lose so much this way, like zero 3d effect.
Streamers made in America?
In the world of digital, Chinese equipment has the edge on the technology over most countries and at a much more affordable price. Plus, like soix says, most made in America products have many foreign parts in them. Easy choice for me, I buy the p...
CD TRANSPORT THAT MAKES AN AUDIBLE DIFFERENCE
I can only tell you about what I know. I used to have a Cambridge transport and went to a Jay's CDT2-MK3. The difference is simply phenomenal. In this case you get what you pay for is real.
Some famous reviewers have atrocious listening rooms!
Listening rooms are the hardest thing to get right. Anyone with mucho dinero can buy wonderfully expensive equipment. However, very few can have the dedication required to build a proper listening room. What a waste...
What's up with lousy bass on classic rock recordings?
It all depended on the recordings. Tying all classic rock into one lump won't do it justice. Prime example Tommy Bolin's Private eyes and Teaser, both vinyl from the mid seventies, if you can find better bass anywhere, in any genre, or any period,...
The Mood Was Ruined
@mahler123  Weird to have an arm pickup over a pop!!! Automatic TT? My TTs don't do that, automatic is an enemy for sound performance. Even so it was cleaned, some spec of whatever may have attached itself to the vinyl while handling it. A close...
Small, Effective Subwoofers?
Also, I agree with the ones who say a more powerful amp can only help. I run the PBNs with 500 watts per channel @ 4 ohms amp.
Small, Effective Subwoofers?
@navyachts  I have 12" dual subs, F12s from Rythmick and they work flawlessly with my PBN Montana XPS speakers which are 4 ohms. Plenty enough bass with the right amount of slam and definition. However, FYI, to obtain a non overly booming sound ...
