Great female voices
Actually, I just thought of one example of what some consider good Pop music with great sound---the Cat Stevens album Tea For The Tillerman, produced by Paul Samwell-Smith, bass player of The Yardbirds. But that was, what, forty years ago? And I h...

Ozzy, yep T-Bone has no audiophile sensibilities, unfortunately. My comment about him was in reference to his musical abilities, not the audio quality of the music he makes. I can't think of a single producer in Pop music who makes great music wit...

Actually Peter, the Mitchell Techno Arm and the Audiomods Arm are quite dissimilar, sharing only one common denominator, and that one tenuous---a Rega arm tube. For anyone serious about investigating what I and quite a few other Vinyl Engine Forum...

1- Have you watched the Michael Fremer tonearm set-up DVD?2- Where in the country are you?

Thanks for the reminder Jdoris. I have a Shannon McNally CD I haven't gotten to yet (I have thousands---literally---of CD's I have yet to hear). Now all I need to do is find it!
Your three favorite audio dealerships?
Excellent! The shop also still has a great tech in Tom, who's in on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tom did all the diagnostic and repair work for Brooks, and does the same for Sheila. Tell him Eric says hey!
McIntosh MA 6100 modifications
Audio Classics in upstate New York is a McIntosh specialist shop. I'd give them a call, but if you're in S. California, Tom at Brooks Berdan Ltd. (a Mac dealer) in Monrovia is an excellent tech with lots of Mac experience and knowledge.

Oh, and for 799 pounds you get on-the-fly SRA/VTA adjustment via a built-in precision micrometer!
How do you respond to this question?
All good answers, especially Czarivey's. But I'm reminded of the answer bank robber Willie Sutton gave when asked why he robbed banks: Because that's where the money is. I bought LP's for over twenty years before ever seeing a CD (in '87), and did...

There is a machinist/engineer in England whose tonearm business is named Audiomods. He buys the excellent arm tube from Rega and substantially improves it by installing three internal braces (to stiffen it and rid the arm of it's low-frequency res...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
I hadn't heard that one, Marty. I met Evan in the late 90's, and learned that he and Danny had played together in the 70's. Evan was the songwriter, singer, and second guitarist (everyone is second guitarist in Danny's presence!) in a group they h...
overwhelmed by record rituals
MC---Al and Griffith gave you a lot of great info and advice, all of which I agree with. Here's some more! Both the Nitty Gritty and VPI cleaners are good, and each has an advantage over the other. As Al said, with the NG the LP doesn't sit on a ma...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
I neglected to mention that Danny Gatton committed suicide years ago. But there are a number of his CD's available, the first one to get probably being the double-CD collection on WB, I believe it is. His sometimes-partner Evan Johns (also a mania...
overwhelmed by record rituals
The pops and clicks could be static, not vinyl, noise. The dusting of an LP (which is all carbon fiber brushes such as the Audioquest do) can create static, so I would get an anti-static gun. Last Stylus Cleaner (amongst others) is a great product...
Album which you have listened to most?
I didn't have to think about this one. It's a tie between the 1st and 2nd Band albums. Literally thousands of times.
