New KT150 tubes?
Veerapaneni ...my Ref 150 is almost ready for a retube. The KT-120s have almost 2000 hours of use on them. I am frustrated that ARC will not bless the KT-150 for use in their current Ref series. At this point I have only ONE question: will the KT-...
Any ideas?? ARC CD 3 doesn't work
Care to share how much ARC charged?
Any ideas?? ARC CD 3 doesn't work
So what the story? Just a cap or did ARC prophylactically replace some other parts that were near the end of their life span??
Is DEQX a game changer?
Lewinskih01 .... you wrote:"I can't remember the scope of time alignment in your system. Is it subs-to-main speakers, or are you using the active XO in the DEqX and aligned your mains drivers and also the subs? This would help put your comment abo...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Andrew (Drewan77) ... I get you point. But, Larry does this for a living and no doubt has volumes of anecdotal experiences upon which to base his judgments. Perhaps, just for laugh and giggles, you and I can try to recheck the time alignment measu...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Ptss ... better imaging and sound stage. More pleasing presentation from a tonal perspective ... meaning less harsh sounding. Basically, Larry spent a little more time smoothing out FR kinks from room effects. He didn't touch the original time ali...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Just finished an hour and a half fine tuning session with Larry, the DEQXPert. At his suggestion, I move my listening couch back a little and he re-tuned my system. Definitely better. He also gave me a setting option with a slight bass boost, whic...
Surreal Speakers: Made to order in Virginia, USA
Lew ... unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of auditioning the better time coherent speakers on the market. But I gotta tell ya, time coherence aside, room effects can smear the heck out of even the best speakers ... be they time coherent or...
Tube amplifier to power Sonus Faber speakers?
Thanks for your clarifications Al. Let me add one too. Most ARC amps use negative feedback and have "low'ish" output impedances, especially off the nominally denoted 4 ohm taps. Al .. as we have discussed many times before, this means that ARC amp...
Surreal Speakers: Made to order in Virginia, USA
Lewinskih01 ... I noted from your 11/29 post that you are considering DIY speakers and also mentioned the import of time alignment. I don't know anything about Surreal or its drivers. But I have been doing a vertical learning curve on time alignme...
Tube amplifier to power Sonus Faber speakers?
I would like to suggest ARC as a tube amp to consider. FWIW, I believe ARC is currently using SF as its reference speakers when checking the performance of its gear. That should be no surprise since SF and ARC are member companies of the Fine Soun...
Any ideas?? ARC CD 3 doesn't work
Rsjm80 ... if you get a chance to ask ARC to "freshen up" your CDP, please let us know what if anything ARC recommends. I suspect that if anything, they might just replace some old electrolytic caps. I think your CDP is solid state, so tubes shoul...
New KT150 tubes?
Gary (Hifigeek1) ... still no official word from ARC yet about dropping the KT-150s into its "standard" current Ref amps???? Has the new G series gear hit the stores yet??? In a private message from Kal a while back, he mentioned that the GS-150 i...
Any ideas?? ARC CD 3 doesn't work
Rsjm80, probably not necessary, but I'll put this out there for you anyway. While ARC has your unit, I would ask the tech to replace any other parts that are subject to aging and spec degradation NOW. It is my understanding that ARC will not let o...
Most Honest Audio Magazine?
I seem to recall that there may be more of a synergistic interactive process going between manufacturers and the "better" audio mag reviewers. Yes ... I appreciate and do not ignore the comments about the relationship between the mags and the manu...
