What are we going to do about Tele 12AU7 prices Good points made above that make sense once explained. 👍🏻
Thinking Out Loud @oldhvymec, I read about the red plating and flame out tubes, which seemed to be a premium feature. Worth the money, eh? And if I get a pair of matched tubes (instead of two matched pairs to replace all), I should put one new tube on one function...
What are we going to do about Tele 12AU7 prices @ghasley, This brings up a question I had previously regarding accessories provided by equipment manufacturers. I would think that an audio equipment manufacturer would pair their equipment with tubes or power cords that sound great with that equ...
Thinking Out Loud Follow-up: Giving the tubes time to settle in, the sound has become more full and not dominated so much by the highs. I think I like this!Haven't bought any other tubes yet, but I think I will try some Tung-Sols. All the ads I have seen are lim...
Economical CD Transport - Thoughts? I also own an Audiolab 6000CDT and paired it with small Pro-Ject dac. Sounds good to me and the slot-loading mechanism has worked without fail. I haven’t seen any scratches inflicted, which I think is the most-cited concern. I haven’t heard a ...
New to Turntables @guakus, I have a Denon DP-300f turntable with built-in preamp. I read on several sites that this preamp is more for convenience than performance, so I would think the phono section on your Yamaha would give better sound. The cables on my turntable...
What are we going to do about Tele 12AU7 prices It comes down to priorities and what one is willing to spend. I would have to mull over whether to spend $120.00 on a single tube; others would not hesitate. The OP is one who thinks that is excessive, and I agree with him. This is one reason I...
Is it ever enough? I have been going through this process where I started out thinking in one direction with equipment but then being intrigued by reading others’ experiences in other directions. The equipment I originally bought beginning in early 2020 now doesn’t ...
Thinking Out Loud I also found this video regarding tubes for the Freya+:https://youtu.be/WA_GImHsZNY
Who will soon be going to a live concert? I saw Emmylou Harris about a month ago, and a friend and I saw Gary Allan on September 10th. Both were at an outside venue. I am fully vaccinated and attended without a mask and sat near to other people. No problems thus far. I don’t ignore ris...
Thinking Out Loud @lowrider57, The tubes are those that came with the Freya+ . . JJ tubes, made in Slovakia (same country my Pro-Ject was manufactured in). The tubes are said to be good ones and less expensive than the Tung Sol tubes people really like.
Thinking Out Loud @ghdprentice, my TT is a Denon DP-300f. I bought an inexpensive turntable because I had been away from that medium for a long time and had memories of noisy, popping play. Of course, back then my idea of record cleaning was a swipe with a Discwa...
Thinking Out Loud Hooked up TT through zphono and into Freya+. Had to turn on the rumble filter on the zphono with the Freya in solid state mode, but didn’t need it for tube mode. Again, I most notice the high sounds with the tubes and not the warm mellowness oth...
Thinking Out Loud Today I hooked the Freya+ into my system. It was a pain in ass just getting everything apart. I see photos of others’ systems here and the cables are so neat — mine looks like a mass of spaghetti tied into a Gordian knot! I ended up disassembli...
Thinking Out Loud @ozzy62, my amp is Parasound A21.I think I will print out the instructions here so I can follow them as needed. Thanks again for your input. |
