VTL IT-85 or Mcintosh MA6500 I think I'm addicted to hearing new gear every so often even if it's not a major upgrade. The first step to recovery is admitting it. :)
Is there a difference in balanced cables?? You may want to search AudiogoN's archives.
Thinking out loud... B&W Diamond tweeters I have no idea of the model number but it is better than the Nautilus tweeter, but then again I would think it is dependant on the crossover too. It is metal.
Thinking out loud... B&W Diamond tweeters Sounds like a lot of work, with no guarantees, but will the Signature Series tweeter work.
tube watts vs solid state watts It seems to me that there are low, or lower, watt tube amps paired with speakers that one generally would never dream of doing with the same watt ss amp.
Are first order crossovers best? Thanks Eldartford, I hope I made it clear enough in my post that I am not making comments of any great authority of my own, just some things I was told and/or picked up. I was simply told that it is harder to do a first order cross over correctly ...
Are first order crossovers best? Brian, on the surface a 1st order crossover would seem to be simpler, having less parts in the signal path. I wasn't saying a first order is "simipler" (to design), actually just the opposite; while it has less parts it can be harder to get right....
Classe CA-200 and B&W 805N combo?? I've used many B&W speakers and never once had a problem with "treble cutting through my ears"; contrary to Judy's redundant (and what has become worthless) advice.
Are first order crossovers best? However, a 4th order crossover is much harder to make and more expensive. This is the opposite of what I have been told; first order done right is not an easy task. Also, and correct me if wrong, the advatage of lower order cross overs is less parts...
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years Ptheo, I couldn't tell all the "why's" that the kW500 was better, but you are right in that the 500 watts may play a role, my speakers like power and it is one area I speculate. As for the tubes, they may play a part; I am not necessarily a tube g...
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years Ptheo,I no longer have the CA-2200, but I used it with the CP-500 preamp, CDP-100 CD player and B&W 805 Signature speakers; this was a system I really liked. When I changed to B&W 802D speakers I felt the Classe just wasn't getting the job...
Ultimate Amplifier for the next 20 Years True Class A at 60 watts per channel is defintely not cool-running.My question is, what is too hot? Having owned a CA-2200, I didn't find this amp to be a "space heater". I left very little clearance above it in my rack and it was warm but not "sc...
How's aboutnthese new Diamond B&W's??? I have no idea what that post means, not that I care, but I am glad I keep you amused. :)
How's aboutnthese new Diamond B&W's??? LOL...Nobody has more confidence in you than yourself. Personally, your comments are of no value.
How's aboutnthese new Diamond B&W's??? Yes, we should all listen to Judy with all her/his "wisdom"! After all, we are not "clear thinking" people such as she/he is. |
