Low-Fi Experience Satch, I had the same experience. "Hi-Fi Choice", I think, used the $300.00 Denon UD-M31 CD receiver on Wilson Sophias. "People walked away shaking their heads thinking they were listening to $10,000 of McIntosh tube gear".As Aerosmith would say "...
Warranties - Best & Worst - New & Used B&W has bent over backwards to answer all my questions and provide product support. Excellent!I recently bought a Denon product and had a question / problem. The answering machine at Denon said to leave your phone numebr and your call would be...
Pre and Amp suggestions for B&W Nautilus 804? My Musical Fidelity A3.2 is warmer than Pass and Sim integrated (though I've heard the separates are warmer) and to my ears better than Classe.I use Audioquest Granite which is 60% off from Audio Advisor. This warms up the bass and relaxes the hig...
Pre and Amp suggestions for B&W Nautilus 804? My Musical Fidelity A3.2 is warmer than Pass and Sim integrated (though I've heard the separates are warmer) and to my ears better than Classe.Rowland and bi-amped Electrocompaniet are two other great options but much more espensive.
Driver suggestions for DIY project I agree with elevick to at least consider Jordan. You can get Jordan or Tang-Band from creative soundThis site also lists DIY with Jordan drivers. I use Tang-Band W3-871S and it's very nice.
Build A Used/Kit Flea Watt SET System For SET amps, Atmasphere and Wyetech have been the best to my ears. These go for about $8,000-$10,000. I would not recommend any single driver speaker that uses a "whizzer cone" as you will lose the time/phase coherency of a true single driver. Vo...
Can speakers be too good? I thought Audio Physic Virgo 3's sounded excellent with the 3.2 integrated. Better than Sim's integrated. Made me think about getting rid of my B&W.I would stay away from ATC because the 3.2 will not have enough power. Same goes for Revel M20.
Looking to upgrade speakers. You could try Theil 2.3/2.4's. Also B&W CDM-7's. The new Monitor Audio S series seems to have too much bass. I thought the older Monitor Audio had great, musical bass, vs,. the newer "home theater" bass that B&W CM-4 offers. Although B&...
Recomendation for speakers BEST for Piano? Speakers with metal or aerogel drivers sound better on piano than my kevlar B&W's. Ellis 1801's (seas) and Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 (aerogel)are examples. Since piano is a percussion instrument, you need a stiff driver to keep the impact sharp...
Stainless stell stoves are cool, but not high-end B&W sells in-wall speakers. Tweeters Etc. has a display of in-wall speakers.
Adcom GFP-750 Modfication Question Michael Percy Audio sells Black Gates. If all you have to do is swap out cap's maybe you could do it yourself and not have to ship out the pre.FWIW, I asked Adcom about swapping out components and they told me they use high quality components thro...
DYI Speakers. How good can they be? Corian?
Why are some cables 'directional'? Could be from the direction the wire was drawn through the die and formed the crystaline structure in the wire.
Best DAC for under $500 Viggen, I've got a Marantz CDR-500. Uses the Philips VAM 12.5 mechanism. Same as the $3,000 Cary 303/100.
DYI Speakers. How good can they be? If you want to succeed, I would suggest a design which does not currently exist.Like a floorstander designed to go up against the wall (Naim is the exception - Naim is always the exception and is one of the most highly regarded names in Hi-Fi in U... |
