Best speaker brands for transient response
Another key objective is to preserve transients and spatial cues, which convey the impact of a musical event. This is achieved through good relative phase between drivers, i.e. they must all radiate in unison

The joys of mid-fi
Yes, very nice system. I had to admit defeat to hi-end in 2006. Even though I still work at it, you see my system page has not changed since 2006. That’s is because I have not found any major improvement worth mentioning. Hope you have better luck.

Years ago when I was blissfully ensconced in mif-fi, May I ask what that system was?
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz
Thanks for all the responses. So there are many options to address this problem. Walking around the room, the bass is more resonant in the corners and near the back wall. I listen above 3 feet from the back wall and even there is audible. My per...
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz
@erik_squires you mean THIS? I’ll try moving them around this weekend. Right now, they are 50" out from front wall and 30" from side walls. I did calculate 15 ft resonance is 37 Hz - sounds about right. Since plugging the ports worked, sealed bo...
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz
Yes, DSP would do it. I'm not using a sub. Last speaker was the JBL L82 and even the KEF LS50 Meta (which I did not think even went to 40Hz) does it. If I plug the speaker ports, the resonance goes away but so does too much of the bass.
Crossovers and power handling, and why 1st order filters can be bad
Well, written and easy to understand.
Starting Over and I need your help
Message received, loud and clear. I will start auditioning amps at the local store. Apparently not. You have a perfectly fine amp with volume control, a Zamp, you can try right now.
Starting Over and I need your help
I also own a Parasound Zamp that I currently don’t use because I do not have a preamp You do not need a pre-amp. Just use the volume pots on the back of the Zamp. At least it's a free way to compare to your Musical Paradise MP 301 III.   thi...

Food: what does the typical audiophile eat?
@jayctoy  Hope it works. Maybe that is why I like chocolate chips. The 55% cacao and higher.   @waytoomuchstuff Haha, I remember peanut brittle.
Food: what does the typical audiophile eat?
A buddy at work would say "There are no fat grams in beer". His idea of a health food but his belly said otherwise.
