3/3/2015 Another San Francisco Smash and grab
Tomcy66 - you hit the nail on the middle class erroding head - the breakdown of the family unit! Everyone is looking for a hand...everyone has epectations for 'entitlements'. I grew up poor and when things were relaly bad, we didn't rob. Pants Up!...
TV between speakers: Curved Screen TV, help? Hurt?
if you have to have it, just hang RPG diffusers over it during listening sessions. The sound waves will never "see" the tv.Put a soft towel between the screen and diffuser so it doesnt scratch. Layer EMI cloth behind/around but watch heat/vents. I...
Anyone use solar power?
nothing like battery power!
Is revealing always good?
If the recording is harsh, you need to know if the performance was harsh. If it was, no problem. If it wasn't, you need to fix it, not cover it up. If she ain't pretty, wearing dark glasses won't make her prettier.
How Pathetic is Welborne Labs?
Im a real football fan (not american carryball) so superbowl does not mean anything to me. My power supply was quite important, to me, which is what matters, to me. The sad part of the story is that the power supply was actually quite good.
Advice for streaming setup only
Its a pain (sometimes) and you need a little knowledge (you can muddle through using knowledge forums) but a PC is pretty awesome sounding, incredibly tweakable and still the most versatile solution. It streams, it rips, it downloads... all you ne...
OS question re: Beats Music
My understanding was that Chrome was the only web player that played it properly. I do understand it did work before so perplexing. why not download the player and play tidal through the player? that would not require any browser compatablity.
Describe ube sound vs solid state
They both sound very close to real music, if done properly.
Is revealing always good?
when it reveals shortcomings of a bad recording, you have succeeded. You dont want to pollute your rig so it makes bad recordings sound acceptable. What you can do is try to make them sound better. My "bad' recordings all went away when I got a ne...
How Pathetic is Welborne Labs?
Czarivey - order a $5k flat panel the week before the super bowl and get a 13 inch b&w instead and learn that you are waiting or the guy in maine to send yours back to you (during 9 feet of snow...so he could never even send it...). Then tell ...
Funny and clever Axpona Ad
My wife was just looking over my shoulder, while it was playing. She asked me, "honey, would you leave me for her?". I said, "sweetie, I'd kill you for her".
Timbernation Speaker Stands
Timbernation is awesome but agree for under speakers, symposium is an incredible sonic upgrade. drains every little vibration away from those drivers... you will hear things you never heard. DANGER is they will make you go out and upgrade everythi...
Is my preamp useless?
The lower you want to play music, the better preamp you need. Retaining resolution while attenuating the signal is no easy task. Throw in a bunch of other stuff and me thinks a good preamp is worth its weight in gold.
Is revealing always good?
I feel revealing is a must but its only 'good' if it reveals a system that sounds good. If there is a flaw in the system, a revealing CD player will make that flaw shine. Most say they dont want that and would rather mask a flaw with another flaw....
You know you're an audiophile if--
You still have a bump on your head from all the times you stood up from looking into the Harveys Electronics store window on West 8th Street, Greenwich Village, NYC. I was 14... My GLORY days of hifi. Hop on a train and hit stereo exchange and dro...
