Yamaha CDS-1000 or Denon DCD-1600ne
@bigmac1963 , I looked earlier and the Denon site is sold out of them at the moment. You might be able to find an online dealer who will price-match it, though. (Crutchfield, perhaps? I know they carry both Yamaha and Denon products.) Good luck ...
Yamaha CDS-1000 or Denon DCD-1600ne
"Both the Denon and Yamaha have very low jitter and harmonic distortion/noise floor. So why would they be expected to sound different? " Because they use different DACs? Because they use different power supplies? Because they're designed differen...
Yamaha CDS-1000 or Denon DCD-1600ne
Those 2 players don’t even remotely sound similar. I’ve used/heard both and the Denon is a little darker. Bass is more pronounced. The Yamaha is more crisp with more upper end sparkle. While both are good players, it ultimately comes down to wh...
Happy Thanksgiving/ A peaceful holiday and hopeful message.
Amen.   Happy Thanksgiving fellow audiophiles!
Digital is far better than vinyl
Yeah, thanks anyway. Hard pass from this guy.
Open Baffle Experience
@kenjit , I invite you to come on over and hear what I’m hearing from my OB setup. You don’t have, nor have you ever heard a pair of properly set up OB speakers, have you? Your ignorance is monumental, and it’s showing. Might want to slow your r...
What Gear Has Disappointed You?
Let's see.....what gear has disappointed me.... Emotiva ERC-4 CD player. Just......no. Returned to sender. Any of the Schitt DACs I have auditioned or tried. Just not a fan of the sound, feel or look of their products.  Marantz CD/SACD players....
Open Baffle Experience
I switched to OB speakers (Emerald Physics) a while ago, and I don't think I could ever go back to a box speaker. They need lots of room to breathe and placement can be tricky, but they sound absolutely glorious when you get them dialed in. Anyon...
Best sounding CD player
@beeswax , "Man, I am really SICK AND TIRED of people doing everything but answering the question." You are spot on. And honestly, if people think their $600 CD transport is the "best", and "punches above it’s weight", a "giant killer", "compete...
Good read: why comparing specifications is pointless
@amir_asr This will be my last post to you. You are acting like a petulant child. Go away, I'm not buying your BS, and no how many times you feel the need to get the last word, I don’t agree with you. I think you’d be better served if you packe...
Best sounding CD player
Best I've ever used is probably Esoteric. It just does everything "right". I think with all of them there are pros/cons. I've yet to find one I think is perfect.
Good read: why comparing specifications is pointless
Well put, @jerryg123 .  Mirrors what I said in the last post that our friend Amir attempted to hijack. He's pandering to people pretending to be audiophiles who are desperate to think their inexpensive gear is "just as good" when it's obvious the...
New MOFI speaker (Andrew Jones)
They're cool looking. At some point though, I'd have to at least look at Tannoy.
Do You Tell Others How Much You Have Invested in Your System?
If they ask, and I know them well, I will tell them what it's insured for.....usually followed up by what I paid for everything. I don't tend to invite strangers in off the street to listen to my gear, so I doubt it's a problem. Plus, like I indi...
Nearly all manufacturers do not advertise/exhibit their product measurements? Why?
Someone’s a little butt-hurt. Isn’t this the review where you hook the $400 power cable into the $500 DAC, listen through headphones, measure the heck out of it, and then claim it makes no difference?   Then you got called out on GR’s channel (...
