Anyone try Supra LoRad 2.5 PCs?
Soix, I'm using a Lorad 2.5 attached to my Rowland model 8. It's an excellent power cord and far superior to the Shunyata Diamondback that I was using before. However,I do think it is important to use a better plug than what Supra offers...in my c...
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s
Hifigeek1, I trust the Richardson 6550's weren't GE branded, or??
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s
Hifigeek1, what newer versions are you talking about? The GE 6550 tubes that I have used and heard were all very good sounding and quite reliable. If you are talking about another brand, well that's a different situation.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s
Hifigeek1, perhaps if you could listen to a good amp using the GE6550's you would see what the fascination is all about.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s
Pradeep, I haven't heard the NOS JAN 6550A...were these GE's as well and just Joint Army/Navy or ?? I do own a matched quad set of GE 6550's that are like new, and once my SED 6550 C's give up the ghost will replace them with the GE's. You have to...
Nordost vs. Transparent...which is better?
Hi LLoyd, I haven't had the pleasure of trying Odin's with my G's. I would be a little afraid that if I did and they were amazing ( which I'm pretty sure they would be), I'd have to get a 2nd mortgage and the WAF would be at an all time low, LOL.
NOS KT 88s or GE 6550s
Sunnyboy, I have heard both the GE 6550's and the GL KT88's. IMO, the GE's are some of the very best tubes ever made. If you like midrange magic and the ability to drop down in the bass dept, then you will LOVE these. The GL KT88's are almost veil...
Nordost vs. Transparent...which is better?
Not sure if the OP still uses Guarneri's, but IMHO one of the very best cables for these speakers is Nordost. The cables are lightning fast and the speakers respond beautifully to them.I use Frey's and also Red Dawn 11's; both are superb and a BIG...
Linn Ittok lvii Mk. II upgrade to Origin Live or ?
I think matching most arms to the LP12 is very much a hit and miss biz. IMO, most of the super arms today aren't going to work on the table. Probably the best, if you can find one, is the Naim Aro. I would suspect that the OL's are going to be too...
Jeff Rowland or Mark Levinson???
I've owned Jeff's model 8 with choke for about 20 years now and it still brings a smile to my face. VERY few ss amps can compete with it even today...20 years later!
Tube or solid state for Sonus Faber Amati Homage
Gomerpile1, I think that the SF Homage line likes tube amps with a little drive capability. My SF GH's are a match made in heaven with my ARC D70Mk2 tube amp. They are also great with my ss Rowland, but that amp has 250 watts/ch!I have heard the M...
Jeff Rowland tour fascinates
I've talked to Jeff on a few occasions, always a very interesting and pleasant conversation.IMO, he and his company is still at the pinnacle of audio.
The Problem with Synergistic Research
Sabai, your'e nothing if not consistent...Like I said in the other thread: You always state your OPINION as a matter of fact that applies to all of us!Now your'e unloading on SR cables....I have NO affiliation with SR cables BUT sure find it inter...
ARC's new REF-75
When I visited the ARC room with the REF 75 on Friday, I had the same basic impression as Keith. The amp was certainly not bad, OTOH it wasn't as great as I had expected. The mids seemed to me to be lacking in the midrange magic that my older D70M...
12AX7 preamp tube failure last night
Hi Bill, I have a Vox Tonelab, which i think uses a similar circuit to your AD50VT and uses one 12ax7 tube. Vox uses the tube more as a tone control than anything else ( as a driver for example) in the circuit. I have rolled the tube with various ...
