Is it better to mount Sony HT A9 speakers or use stands?
I set up the Sony HT A9 system yesterday and after some tweaking I achieved spectacular sound for movies and surprisingly good sound for music.  The HT A9 integrates nicely with our 85" Sony Bravia smart TV. Next week I expect to receive a KEF LS...
Is it better to mount Sony HT A9 speakers or use stands?
The setup the Sony HT A9 will replace is comprised a Bryston SP3 that sends front LR to an Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp bypass, VX-5 Twenty amp, a pair of KEF Reference 1s.  Four LS50s are mounted around the walls.  A pair of Velodyne HGS-15s below 80 ...
KEF LS60 v Reference 1s
I ordered white LS60; I'll sell the maroon LS50 W2.
KEF LS60 v Reference 1s
I'll be using the pair of KC62s I use with the LS50 W2 when the LS60 replaces the LS50.
KEF LS60 v Reference 1s
I was in the hospital with the highly contagious RVS, and did some soul searching about what I actually listen to. In the living room it’s the KEF LS50 W2 with a pair of KC62s, and that’s a surprisingly satisfying sound for me. In the room with Ay...
KEF LS60 v Reference 1s
If the missing text was and add a good subwoofer, the Reference 1s are augmented by a pair of Velodyne HGS-15s with acoustic room correction via an SMS-1. I'm now thinking of replacing the LS50 W2 with LS60. Thanks for the advice. The Reference 1s...
KEF LS60: Distance from wall behind them
I haven't replaced the Reference 1s with LS60 yet, but I have a rack of Ayre gear and at 87 aim to simplify.  Kal Rubinson's review in Stereophile suggests they provide excellent sound quite close to Blade 2s.
KEF LS60: Distance from wall behind them
IIRC the Velodyne SMS-1 does both low-pass crossover and bass management. The first is a simple setting of frequency and slope, the second entails acoustic measurement of sound generated in the room. You can let the SMS-1 seek a solution based on ...
KEF LS60: Distance from wall behind them
Haven't heard e LS60,. just read and seen reviews.  Kal Rubinson's review for Stereophile was the most convincing.  At 87, I'm aiming to simplify with a setup that's easy to use but sounds good.  The KEF Reference1s, driven by the  Ayre KX-5 Twent...
KEF LS60: Distance from wall behind them
I have no problem setting the LS60s where the Reference 1s are now.  The Reference 1s are augmented below 80 Hz by a pair of Velodyne HGS 15s with acoustic room correction.  I assume there will be no problem using the subs with the LS60, but might...
KEF LS60: Distance from wall behind them
I just set the LS50 W2 to wall mode, and it changed something -3 dB, not sure what. The LS50 W2 are 28" from the wall behind them. I imagine I prefer the sound now with that setting, seems a bit less colored

Replacing surround with sound bar
The Sony HT A9 was what got me to consider sound bars.  The need for AC outlets for each module seemed a turn-off,  but that's when I was thinking about replacing the LS50s with the modules.  If nstead I place the modules near AC outlets that migh...
Replacing surround with sound bar
ghdprentice, if the audio of the 85" Sony weren't so good I'd be more motivated to fire up the Ayre preamp and set it to by-pass, fire up the Bryston SB-3 and select TV input, but Sony really has done a job with the audio of that TV.  I think I mi...
Replacing surround with sound bar
I think I would use surround more if it were provided automatically by the TV.  I haven't used the eARC/HDMI converter enough to know if it transmits surround.  I do use HDMI from the Ayre DX-5 DSD to the Bryston SP3 for Blu-rays.  In my OP I didn...
