Tuntable not working with wood floors..Help I have old sprung floors in my house. I don't care how much you mass load the joists from the top (I have used up to 600lbs.), you cannot eliminate vibration passed from feet or from the main speakers into the TT. Corner placement can reduce vibra...
Tuntable not working with wood floors..Help Move the TT to a corner (where the floor joists are more solid), or wall mount on a wall rack (anchored into the wall studs.) Use an electronic stud locator to find the center of each stud.
Kill Top End Extension - All Silver Ribbon Cables Sean, I've been using .005" X 2" copper ribbons as speaker cables and .005" x 1/2" copper ribbons as ICs with all tube equipment. I've tried spacing them close together or far apart and it makes no discernable difference. These ribbons sound much ...
APL NWO2.5 ? I am unable to locate reviews of any NWO models other than anecdotal remarks by a few internet posters. Can someone direct me to a bona fide review? With $10K in mods on top of the Esoteric mule, APL is at an unprecedented price-point for a modder....
APL NWO2.5 ? WOW NWO=WMD
APL NWO2.5 ? As good as this unit might be, I would sure want to hear the Meridian 808 Signature Reference ($13.5K) before buying in this price class (assuming one could live with RBCD & DVD-A only). Great review in September Absolute Sound by Sue Craft an...
standing waves Nice analysis. But generally sub manufacturers recommend corner placement for a single sub, which generally develops more deep bass at the possible cost of increased distortion. Spiking may turn the entire floor into a resonator, which may be desi...
Treating cable terminations in wet environment Paint completed connections with polyurethane or blob on some RTX silicone (as used in electronic applications; standard silicone attacks copper while curing.)
Law of Diminishing Returns - CD/SACD Players As Sweringen said of the gimp ascending staircase, "With every step a new adventure."
Law of Diminishing Returns - CD/SACD Players Saxo, I agree with your audio dealers who believe that the source component is the most important. A mid-fi system that is merely listenable with a CDP source, usually becomes quite musical after substituting a TT source. I don't think any other c...
Law of Diminishing Returns - CD/SACD Players The "cheap" ticket to the top tier is with decks like Sony SCD-1/777ES, top Marantz, top Denon, etc., modded by credible builders like APL, Audiomod, ModWright, Reference Audio Mods & VSEI. $1500-$4000 plus the cost of the mule player does it....
Best subwoofer for a Wilson Puppy Macrojack, similar to the newer WPs, my Merlin VMXs are measureably flat +/-3db to 30Hz and produce usable bass down to 25Hz. Adding a sub below a low 30Hz crossover point adds significantly to impact of kick-drum, electric and acoustic bass, and ...
Best subwoofer for a Wilson Puppy Sorry, when I said "manual" set-up related to the Vel DD, I meant that there are no analog straps a la REL with which to override the digital display. One accesses the set-up utilities through display menus. If it is not possible to lower the xove...
Best subwoofer for a Wilson Puppy Anyone who can't get the DD xover set to their satisfaction should call Velodyne's tech support/customer service operation in Phoenix. As for test equipment, the integrated frequency analyzer dumped to a TV screen reveals exactly what's happening....
Best subwoofer for a Wilson Puppy Rives, the xover upper limit of the Velodyne DD-series can be set in 1 degree increments anywhere from 15Hz to 199Hz. I've set mine at 30Hz for use with Merlin VSM-MXs, and at 35hz for use with Wilson W3P2s. It works fine with either set-up. |
