Help understanding the new Stillpoints products
Ebm -- the Symposium stuff is not what I'm looking for, thanks though.Ramy, this is consistent with the review, thanksCalloway, I read the article in stereotimes (I mis-cited it above as Positive Feedback). That article is tantalizing, but I don't...
modest towers with high WAF for living room?
Oh, and Totem Hawks are very nice (and small), but the Forests are definitely better IMHO.
modest towers with high WAF for living room?
Forests do well close to the wall, and 125w/ch at modest levels is probably okay.
Kharma MP 150 any user?
I use Kaplan HE2's. Tried a lot of others. Realy like the price/performance of these. What are you using?
modest towers with high WAF for living room?
Used Totem Forests will be well within your budget. Check the reviews. Super high WAF. Great for your kind of listening. Bewarned -- they require powerful amps.
Kharma MP 150 any user?
I have them and love them. Mine do not buzz and I have had them on a lot of different stands etc.You could write Bill Parish at GTT Audio/Video. He is the US distributor fo these amps. Very helpful guy.
Monitor Audio Radius HD Series
I'm happy with mine for the fronts (225's) of my home theater. Wouldn't be satisfied for dedicated two channel listening, but for movies and a little bit of music they sound great.

stupid tube question of the day

Preamp suggestions
Jeff Rowland Design Capri would be a good choice.
My last pre-amp, Rowland Capri or Ayre K5xe ?
Can't compare the Capri and the Ayre. But I can tell you that I thought the Capri was just as good, but different than the Pass XP20. Both really superb pre-amps.
goldpoint volume controls and switchers
All very helpful. Thanks everyone!
stupid question about sources, amps, and loudness
Yeah the EAR has no fixed volume option. Yes it does sound warm, which I like, and while the Northstar is good, the EAR is substantially better. Agree that tube amps may be too much of a good thing. Also agree that maybe I have less of a problem t...
stupid question about sources, amps, and loudness
All --Thanks for the many helpful comments.Specifics are as follows: speakers are Wilson Benesch Curves; pre-amp is Nagra PL-L. Sources are EAR Acute CD player (yes very high 5V output) but also Northstar DAC (2 volt ouput). Here's the experience:...
stupid question about sources, amps, and loudness
Yes that's probably right...just helpful to keep all this in mind as I think about what tube amps to get. Thanks so much.
