Best way to couple monitor speakers to stands? I guess I mean whatever sounds best. It's nice that the blue tack sort of glues the speakers to the stands so if they did get bumped they wouldn't come off, but what I'm looking for is whatever sounds best. I suppose acoustically couple the speake...
Gasp Wadia ipod dock or rega appollo cd You can get a great sounding DAC for cheap these days. I would get the Wadia and a Cambridge DAC magic. Not sure if that is over budget but that would sound great and be a lot more fun than playing CDs one at a time. Or I have an even crazier idea...
Speaker recommendation. have $2,500 I want the C4s too. I am living quite happily with the S3.4. It's a great all around speaker and looks really nice too. It's got to be the closest sound to the C4s for 2500 bucks I'd think.
How much improvement with better toslink cable? Hi all. I noticed that there had been some traffic on this thread I started months ago. Well I took the leap of faith and bought an Audioquest Optilink 5 and it was a nice improvement. Easily sounding better than the freebie cable I was using. I a...
Speakers and TT for NAD 3020 Micro-Budget System? NAD 3020 for 40 bucks nice!!! As for a table a Systemdek would be a good choice. I've seen them for under 300 here on Audiogon. I have one and it's a really well made and sounds great, even compared to my megabuck table it's not terrible. Though I...
Proac 1SC vs Dynaudio Focus 140 Mike, I'm not familiar with the exact models but I've owned a few Proacs and Dynaudios and personally I think you will be disappointed with the sound of either with the amp you have. They both need good quality power to sound good. I have been blo...
What's in your Wadia iTransport system? I vote you get rid of the Rotel stuff and get a nice integrated amp that matches well with your speakers. The Wadia/DAC magic combo is fine in my opinion.
Warm Sounding Power Amp or MHDT Havana DAC? Personally if you had 1000 bucks to spend I'd get a lot cheaper DAC and put the rest of it into a nice integrated amp. Then maybe later upgrade your speakers. You can get a great sounding DAC for cheap these days. The Cambridge DAC magic is very g...
Best Record Store In New York If you like jazz, you gotta go to Downtown Music Gallery. It's not that big but they have got all the good and hard to find stuff. The owners really know their stuff and they even have free in store concerts of some of the best jazz artists in the...
Revel Studio 1, B&W 802N or Sonus Faber Cremonas I think your post makes perfect sense. Your room size is going to play a big factor in how much power you will need. If you have a very big room then I would go with the amp that puts out the most power. I would assume you have a decent sized room...
Mac & iTunes geniuses... help Ed, If you are going to all the trouble and are looking to save space then you might want to consider just going down to 320mp3. I seriously doubt you will be able to hear a difference on the ipod. Heck 320s are pretty good sounding on the main ri...
Review: Wadia Series 9 DA converter Just curious what the price on the Wadai 9 series is as well as how much does the GNSC mods add to the price?
Trying to decide between 3 amps Creek, Rega, Atoll I've never tried the other 2 but I love the sound of the Destiny. I replaced an Outlaw 2150 with it and it was a great improvement. However for some reason I just didn't like the sound of the Proacs with it. I had both the D-15 and the Tablette 20...
best monitor speaker under $2000 Personally I'd rethink the Rotel integrated. In my experience it would be easier to get good sound by getting a top notch amp and some less expensive speakers than the other way around. I'm totally familiar with the Rotel model you have so maybe I...
Amp for Dynaudios If you are just getting into the audiophile world you are probably eventually going to find out that solid state sounds pretty great too. Tubes have their own charm too. |
