Phono preamp or SUT for low output moving coil
I have horn tweeters, and horn mids, and they would reveal any hiss or hum, I have none happily. The FRT-4 SUT has zero hum in my system. IF you know you will stick with a single arm, with removable headshells for optional pre-mounted cartridges,...
Phono preamp or SUT for low output moving coil
I’m no expert, but I got help here and learned enough to avoid mistakes. Phono, anything phono, if possible get return option, it’s a world of ’preferred, not better’, no way of truly knowing how something will sound in your system except by tria...

check this one out, says it also plays dsd from usb input, so can feed a hard drive or stream into it correct? Marantz, CD60, open box $740. often open box gets full OEM warranty if your purchase is the initial sale date, not so if a return, but...

Seeking speakers under $3K for 10x12 ft room and driven by 20wpc tube amp
I'm specifically using, thus recommending AR-2ax. Aren't there other 3 way compact speakers out there with larger woofers to recommend?

someone said "provides a more “palpable presence” of the musicians when played at louder levels". I keep shaking my head when I see all these small drivers trying to be woofers, long throw, ports, slots, corner placement reinforcement, .... and f...

What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness?
lak, interesting, but the max is only 3.5x, and getting the right distance to the object is important, not to mention, viewing the underside which is why a magnifying mirror works well.
What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness?
lewm, guilty, I knew it at the time about the stylus, but safely seeing while cleaning the stylus is important. I didn’t imagine cleaning lp’s to be a part of this, but when he mentioned how hard it is for him to see combined with checking betwe...
What are good options for re-wiring an SME 3009 tone arm?
Don’t forget to replace the rubber sleeve that isolates the rear counterweight portion from the front portion of the arm. Your new wire will need to pass thru it. IF you can handle the super delicate Litz Wire, eliminating connections seems advan...
What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness?
Checking after each side is played is over-doing it IMO. I check when I turn the system on, while warming up: check, typically ok, or brush a speck of dust, or maybe if I see something more stylus cleaning fluid with it's cap brush. Or, you hear s...
What devices have you found useful when inspecting your stylii for cleanliness?
I keep a small 20x magnifying mirror loose on the deck below my cartridge, no need to remove the headshell or cartridge or stylus. The arm remains locked in the rest, you simply rotate/tilt the mirror this way and that for any view I just found...
Cartridge and phono stage for Pioneer pl518
I found and just read about RigB which stands for Rigid Body,  RigB Article I found I often recommend the 540 as a starter MM cartridge, however, I would spend any extra money moving to a MC Cartridge. I highly recommend my choice. AT33PTG/II ...
Music Hall Classic Turntable
Staying with that TT, I would consider buying a few extra headshells (they are removable, they are a special size/shape with an offset at the end of a strait arm. OEM cartridge is a MM Moving Magnet type, with unimpressive specifications, thus it...
