The Museum vs. Galleries
Interesting question. Typically when I am “listening” to music I play something familiar - playlists or albums though sometimes the albums are from artists I know well but may not be familiar with that particular album. But for long sessions that ...
Audioquest DBS - What Voltage?
Good reminder I need to check the batteries in mine and then maybe experiment a little.
Is Recording quality the real culprit?
@immatthewj - that’s exactly where my mind went when @curiousjim mentioned single mic recordings. The Junkies also cut their third album as a single mic recording in a church (like Trinity Sessions) called Sharon. However the record execs didn’t ...
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
@noromance  - thank you but it was also a bit selfish. We were fortunate enough to be in a position to make it happen. I had planned to retire but will now have to work a little longer - fortunately I love my job.
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
I’m with @hifiguy42 - don’t need to be sequestered to a life alone. We still live in the same 1700 ft2 house on 1 acre we bought in 1992. We did however buy the 10 wooded acres directly behind our house last year rather than listen to construction...

Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies Powderfinger - Cowboy Junkies To Live is to Fly - Cowboy Junkies If you can’t tell by now, I’m a Cowboy Junkies Junky. Just got tickets to 4 more April CJ shows this week - can’t wait to hit the road.    Matt
The dangerous world of Reel-to-Reel Tape
You all are making me want to get my old R2R serviced and added to my system. It’s nothing special, but I still remember how amazed I was that my recording of Working Man’s Dead and other recordings sounded better than the vinyl I recorded them fr...
Have we lost civility and respect on Audio forums?
Interesting - I am up early this morning enjoying reading the threads from last night’s Daily Recap email and thinking about what a peaceful and respectful place this forum has become primarily, I believe, through moderator intervention. Of course...
James Blunt out of tune?
+1 @blazen69
Shortest Product Demo Ever: Had to Hit the Eject Button and Get the #*@% Out of There?
My “demo” has lasted - we were married 30 years ago today. I remember someone told her mom I was a “ love’em and leave’em kinda guy” just after we started dating. I’m a lucky guy.
ARC REF 6 upgraded by ARC.
Thank you and we’ll said  @cleeds and @richopp.
Compact Floor-standing Speaker Recommendations under $4k
I own a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 200 floor standers. I often listen for hours with no fatigue at all. They are a very neutral speaker and right in your price cap. I own the last version - assume the new version is very similar and maybe a slight...
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade?
Why would I buy additional equipment from a company that sold me fatiguing gear?  I don’t know about you, but if I needed to replace gear that I found to be fatiguing I would eliminate that manufacturer from consideration. So remind me again why w...
un-becoming an audiophile
This is a really good discussion. Very interesting takes from many folks. Especially like the thought of the system as room art @bigtwin. However, based on the two posts by the OP, and putting them together it seems like their primary intention w...
Changes in my life, new system, need new speakers
Haven’t heard any of the other speakers mentioned but I have been rocking Monitor Audio Gold 200 floor-standers for the last 5 years and have been extremely pleased. Love the balanced, yet detailed sound. Often listen for hours on end and never su...
