BS Node 2i: WiFi or Ethernet..?
@cakyol - the OP had asked if hardwiring from a wireless access point would be better than just using WiFi straight to the Node 2i. My point was that in both of these set-ups the signal travelled through WiFi so expecting one to be better than the...
My ears are ready to retire!
@russ69  - OP said, “I am now looking for a simple, enjoyable, good sounding and maybe all in one system to play mostly digital music. Any recommendations will be very much appreciated” and you tell him, “downsizing is a mistake”.How in any manner...
My ears are ready to retire!
Astonishing the disrespect some posters show on this forum. The OP specifically asks about a simpler system for listening to digital. Two of the first three responders have the gall to tell him what an idiot he is for making his decision. @russ69 ...
BS Node 2i: WiFi or Ethernet..?
Honestly not sure whether or not Ethernet beats WiFi. I have a node 2 I only use for radio stations now and it’s hard wired. However, I don’t think there’s any way using a wireless access point could possibly be better than just using the wireless...
Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming?
@hilde45 - Great summary of the conversation. Very interesting take on how those of us of a certain age learned to listen differently because of the circumstances. Never heard it described in those terms but couldn’t agree more based on my experie...
Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming?
Really good topic. Both my vinyl and digital set ups are right at the upper end of that $ ballpark. I know you’ve asked us to separate initial component costs from enduring software / accessory costs but when you include a cost ceiling it’s sort o...
Is my anti-skating too strong.
@bpoletti - Thank you very much for the link. I found Ledermann’s explanation very informative. It’s funny how simple good science usually is. I used it last night to easily reset the anti-skate on my P6. @clearthinker - I’m pretty sure scating is...
Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC
I responded before realizing I was the first one to actually directly address your initial post. The Mytek is fully MQA compatible - as is the Node 2 (note: I have the 2 not the 2i).  I stream both Tidal as well as Quboz. I’ve not heard a particul...
Do different streamers really sound different when using an external DAC
I can weigh directly in on your situation. I have a Node 2 and bought a Mytek Manhattan II DAC with network card (streamer). Initially I set it up as you have with the Node 2 going into the Manhattan via high quality Coax. Then I directly compared...
Do I expect too much?
@russ69 - not clear to me how “Torque angle is a very accurate way to apply torque settings.” in this case when it can vary by 50% based on where the finger tight starting point is?  Since I have no intention of actually removing the screws differ...
Do I expect too much?
Lots of good advice. I really appreciate all of the thoughtful responses. There does seem to be some misunderstanding about how these drivers are mounted. Each driver has a single bolt/screw that secures it from behind. There are no bolts/screws a...
Do I expect too much?
@arch2 - I swear it skips a generation.  Both my boys are like my mom. @russ69 - Appreciate the input.  I’m sorry but the engineer in me is curious what defines a nut?  Does a nut have to be able to move independently?  Does a helicoil count as a ...
Do I expect too much?
@fuzztone - appreciate the advice. I’ll need to think about that with this unique mounting arrangement. Would hate to end up with red 271 drips on my cones.
Super new to record players
Wondering if OP might have a MC (moving coil) cartridge that he is plugging into an MM (moving magnet) input on his pre-amp/integrated/receiver?  Wouldn’t that explain the low volume?
How old are you?
58. First concert was Jethro Tull - I recall being significantly disappointed with my 2nd concert.
