VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D To summarize @rauliruegas lengthy, incomprehensible and misspelled post"I imagine myself as the cartridge tracking the record and I thereby know unipivots cannot work"hmmm ...
The best books on music One of the finest books ever written about music. BACH"Music In The Castle of Heaven" John Eliot GardinerAgreed, which is sitting on my shelf behind me next to"Johan Sebastian Bach: Life & Work" by Martin Geck, and"Johan Sebastian Bach" by Chr...
The best books on music One for the classical lovers "Schubert's Winter Journey" by Ian Bostridge. An artists musings on "Winterreise", both an excellent introduction to the music and a great piece of writing in and of itself
DVD-Audio media, thoughts? worth the cost of the media? Many DVD-A discs contain mixes that are otherwise not available in any other format, typically surround mixes. This is one of the reasons they command high prices. There's also a strong collector/completist issue at play as they were never exactly...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D @stringreen it doesn’t matter what alignment you are using if you have mounted the arm at anything other than the P2S it was designed for you will not be able to align it (or not for all cartridges given possible play in the cartridge mounting slo...
most recent obsession Agreed, a great album and available on vinyl too
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D @billstevenson Raul’s point is to look at 12s in where there is a needle drop with an Ortofon cartridge, the arm swings noticeably which Raul maintains shows the inherent instability in Uni-pivot designs (absent a pseudo second pivot like the one ...
A New Ground -- Benefits of introducing the Synergistic Research Active Ground Block SE @dlcockrum following up on your questions. I would certainly not recommend a long run to a grounding block if it can be avoided. If you do have to then you could consider having Mike Powell at Verastarr make you something up - there's a discussion...
AV Furniture - Depth Not exactly cheap but wooden, looks great, open design and over 22" deephttp://coreaudiodesigns.com/products/component-racks/
Is this for real? Sorry, you’re off by an order of magnitude. The 833s are a mere $350,000 and it looks as if the ad has been corrected if they had mistakenly listed them as ten times that. Still not exactly cheap however 😏I believe this is the listing in question ...
Verastarr's Mike Powell upgrading SR "Stuff" @glory just wanted to thank you for pointing me in the direction of Mike's work on SR kit. I have a fairly extensive selection of SR items including most recently the grounding block (discussion of my experience here). One of the more obscure ways...
Help... my turntable is alive! @moonglum the alternative convention that I always use is simply "tail up" to indicate the cartridge sloping down towards the front, and "tail down" to indicate the reverse. No chance of confusion with this one.
Would an ARC Ref 6 be a good match for a VTL S200? I run an ARC Ref 40 balanced into VTL MB450III and it is a great combination. The Ref 6 manual states it wants to see 20k minimum so the VTL should be no issueThe Ref 6 manual is herehttp://www.audioresearch.com/ContentsFiles/Ref6%20Manual%20WEB.p...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System @halcro yes, we do share similar tastes in some regardsthe Grand Prix Audio Brooklands shelf is not in any way springy or flexible -- once correctly installed and locked down it is completely rigid. The only compliance on the design is in the typi...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System I also got me TS-150 directly from Herzan dealing with Tim -- a very easy process. I have posted the interference readouts from my installation as part of my system description (https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/5707#&gid=1&pid=31)You c... |
