Why hasnt a turntable manufacturer produced a table with automatic tonearm return/shutoff?
I have a manual Rega in the living room and a fully automatic Thorens in the listening room. I love auto lift/shutoff. If I get distracted by anything in the house, I don't come back to my stylus going scrickity pop scrickity pop... There is no re...
What would you do?
+1 for just leave it alone and use it. Recap it when something goes wrong. The caps don't amplify the sound, they just run just the arm motors and the platter. I had a Sony PS X75 and loved it, lasted forever, replaced it with a Thorens TD 126MkI...
Vandersteen Quatro Wood CT
I have model 5s and did not find the filters difficult to configure at all. Don't let that deter you. You only have to use a meter if you're a nerd, like me. The published specs will do just fine. Some of the best and most underrated speakers out ...

!!!OK OK - I'm Big Enough To Admit I Was DEAD WRONG!!! Class D Doesn't Always Suck!!!
Thanks. Great narrative of your adventure. Glad you found something that makes you happy. That's all that matters.
Moon 390 Network Streamer
I have one. It’s very good. Previously I used an ARC SP8. (I know!) I find the sound very detailed and clear, but in general, talking about the way something sounds is very difficult for me. The 390 is very well built and I’ve had no trouble. Th...
All-in-One units for retiring audiophile & music lovers in 2025, say what?
I’m 71 and have a dedicated listening room (now) and I went from Audio Research separates to a Moon 390 and will never look back. Eliminated a lot of cables and clutter. Kept my power amp (ARC VT100MkII), connected SACD over HDMI and listen at up...
Ugliest Component of the Year 2024!
"The MCD85 can play store bought SACDs and CDs as well as music from homemade CD or DVD Data Discs." Store bought SACDs! The fancy kind. I guess it won't play the ones you buy online. That's a real limitation.
No God No! Say it Ain’t So!
boxcarman McIntosh has been available at Best Buy (Magnolia) for many years.  Remember when McIntosh was sold to Clarion? It got better. Wait and see. My friend Hal has a C22, Mc275, Sonus Fabers and a Linn LP12. Fantastic.
Music server recommendations needed.
I've ripped 2864 cds (according to foobar) and it took a really long time. A really, really long time. Years. If you're heavy into classical, you do a lot of editing. I keep SACDs separate and play them with a Sony BluRay (UBP-X1100ES) player ove...
Check This Out!
Lots of pictures of smelting. A metaphor for removing impurities, perhaps?
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail!
I'd suggest Schiit Tyr. I have Aegirs as monoblocks and like them very much. (I've heard the Tyr, but haven't used it in my system.)
Toe in is crucial
Great post. Absolutely true. I moved my speakers every week for over a year until my wife was certain I was quite mad, but at this point it does remind me of listening to music, which is all I ask. Courage! Experiment! Play! Enjoy! If I can do it...

Best Music Streamer to pair with Rogue Audio monoblocks and Pre-Amp
All good choices! I have 2 nodes and the software can't be beat. That being said, I switched my whole front end to a Moon 390, which incorporates a streamer and I have been very happy. I now mostly listen to my NAS or lps.  Moon makes great produ...
