Very small, warm and dynamic speakers
I can definitely recommend Totem Mite speakers. I have a pair in my office... the are very high quality and simply gorgeous wood finish. The image extremely well and are natural sounding and punchy for their size. I also have a wee matching subwoo...
Why are equipment racks so expensive?
You certainly must do your research, but high quality audio racks can be considered a component. Not if you have $500 components, but if you have $10K or higher.... and particularly on turntables and tube equipment. They must be rock solid... many...
Old digital that still kicks butt
Old digital sounding good? Seriously? I certainly have not been exposed to everything... but I have followed the industry and bought high end digital since the beginning. A few years ago I found my Nakamichi CD player... I must have listened to it...
Old Amps that can still Kick Butt
This certainly has not been my experience. Starting in about 1980 when I took out my first loan to buy the then new revolutionary Pass designed Threshold 500. Then 20 years later after auditioning many amps and bought a Pass x350, which in every r...

Sudden development of more pops than usual. VPI TNT turntable.
If I remember my VPI had a static problem until I grounded the spindle ‘ platter.
Help selecting a power cord.
If you can’t instantly hear the difference in a blind test, then you shouldn’t buy it. Unless your system is at really high levels of performance and you are comparing expensive to very expensive power cords... it should be a no brainer. Most of u...
Front speaker placement, trying wider placement.
Part of it is the compromises you are willing to make. Most of us want the best possible sound as system owner. So widening the sweet spot will reduce the sweetness of the spot. Having a reflectiveness of a flat screen will confuse the imaging. Wh...
Help selecting a power cord.
Looking over your equipment power cords may make a difference, maybe not. I would look in the $300 range... no more. If you spend more, then the money would be better spent on upgrading components. DH Labs on amp Power Plus and Preamp would be a g...
Stratospheric audio gear prices
@sj00884. “So if the most expense gear is purchased, is that the best sound possible? ”.Good question. In general the more expensive the higher the potential capability of each component or system within the design goals. Very high end audio is hi...
Help selecting a power cord.
You ask good questions. I have had some form of upgraded power cord for so long i forget which is most sensitive but I have recently been doing some upgrades. What is your equipment? You want to be investing in cords that raise the performance lev...
Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system?
I was an electrostatic and ribbon speaker fan for decades and spent most of my time and money trying to make them sound better... first massive power, then flesh out the sound to be more natural. But when I would make a change, one genera of music...
Flipping record causing series of loud pops
@musicfan2349.  +1@jefgerard Try to ignore the folks feeding their own egos, it is ashamed bullying doesn’t stop when you get out of school.
My experience with bi-wiring
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have never done any real careful comparisons. What speakers and amp are you using?
Separate Amp for AV receiver
What are you not happy with? If you love the sound quality but it doesn’t have enough oomph then maybe an external amp... but cheap anything usually doesn’t sound good. If the overall sound quality is not good... then most likely it is not going t...
