Are the Grammy's becoming irrelevant? Dawgbyte - I enjoyed the thread you started!
Are the Grammy's becoming irrelevant? Apologies for continuing this non-music discussion, but AMEN TO THAT! (though I'm not certain Vietnam was a civil war), none the less and further to Kurt_tank's point, I guess we should just kiss off the 6 million or so Iraquis that risked life an...
DJ Cartridges - have you tried it? I also own a KAB modified Technics SL1210M5G with KAB modified Stanton "DJ" (Groovemaster) cartridge. Am very impressed with the wonderful sound from this setup.

Best inexpensive interconnect/speaker cables? I have a Cambridge Audio D500SE CD player connected via JPS Labs Superconductor FX to a JoLida 502B. The change from factory interconnects (simultaneous with changing speaker cable to JPS Labs Ultraconductor) really made a big difference.
Michael Brecker R.I.P. Scotthobby...completely agree. I didn't know any of this and as a new member of AudioGon was wandering around the forums when I came across the news about these two deaths. In short order I also stumbled across the fact that Chris Whitley had pass...
Best sounding cd in your collection Shadorne - thanks for the tip...I actually don't own any Tom Waits. Used to hang with my cousin and listened to him there. Should probably pick up something by him...(haven't seen cousin in a while - that's another story) but remember listening to...
BIWIRE TERMINALS I recently purchased some JPS Lab speaker cables (single wire). I was shocked at the difference better cables made over the ANCIENT Monster cable I had been using. Now I've upgaded speakers (sort of fell into something and did it) and they can sup...
Best sounding cd in your collection sorry...hadn't read your whole question...I think vocals, sound stage, instrumentation, bass ... the whole recording not to mention that it is great music (songs by Tom Waits, Stones, traditional spirituals, hymns, and folk) make Sprit of the Cent...

Best Neil Young Album? Jaybo - for a good long while, way back when...Neil's first solo album was the only LP I owned.
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE I've owned a pair of Polk Audio SDAIIs since the mid-80s. Finally made the move to upgrade. I'd upgraded other components of my system during the past 20 years and the Polks always seemed to step up and reveal the improvements - this includes rece...
Best bargain for speaker that can offer top sound I have a pair of Polk SDA IIs that I have enjoyed since the '80s. Good imaging, soundstage, transparency and bass response. As I've made upgrades to the system over the years, these speakers seem to have "stepped up" at each step along the way to ...
beautiful piano recordings: solo or small ensemble Check out W.A. Mathieu's "Available Light". He has a web site. I only have it on cassette but it sounds great and seems well recorded. Solo piano. Kind of in the Windham Hill tradition. |
