Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... Gents, there are very good dealers and very bad dealers. Some treat their customers like gold and some treat their customers like dirt. It is a shame when a few bad dealers tarnish the public's view of all dealers. I still think that if a dealer s...
Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... I don't know what dealer you worked for but I highly doubt that high end speakers have 100% markups.
Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... I thought that was what I posted? Anyway, IMHO, I think it is unreasonable to expect a High End dealer to discount 15% or 20%. After all, they need to make enough money to stay in business. For those who have owned a business, all of the expenses ...
Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... Sorry Cornfedboy, I respectfully disagree with you. If you read my prior thread in this post, I used to work for a dealer during college. Granted, it may have been a while ago but I don't think things have changed too much. When I worked in the Hi...
Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... Gentlemen, with all due respect, I used to sell high end audio equipment part time during college. While there is truth in what you are saying, sometimes is beyond the control of the dealer. Some of the manufacturers, and there are quite a few, th...
speaker effiency Jim, you seem to be very knowlegeable in this field. Please read my post in the "Sound Advice" catagory labeled Speaker Enclosure and let me know what you think. I have a bunch of scrap black granite from scrapped counter tops and wondered if it w...

Why do digital cables sound different? Sorry, I guess we got a little carried away with the technical aspects but I learned alot in this thread and also thank those who enlightened me. The music quickens my pulse but I also enjoy the understanding of how it all comes together.
speaker effiency Whew..... I believe you. Don't get upset. I learned something from your post. Sorry to have gotten Vandersteen in hot water but Theil and Vandersteen were the first two speaker manufacturers I thought of when I wanted to show you I have seen it bo...
Tubes? Transistors? Which are better? It's a matter of personal taste but that even order distortion makes me smile every time.
Most achingly-beautiful music It's difficult for me to pinpoint 3 pieces so I will say almost anything from the Baroque Period.
Audio & the Emperor’s new clothes. Great thread ! Makes me remember my old Ampzilla, Thalia preamp, Thorens turntable and Advent speakers. Back then I swore that nothing could ever sound better. Boy, I wasn't even close. Only thing is, back then, when I think about it, even with th...
speaker effiency Go to the Vandersteen website and look at any of their speakers specs.
How to measure the power output? Correction on my last post: 32=(2*2)*8.
Ohms? Close, I will give you an A for your effort. Try this: Voltage is the pressure at which the water is being pushed, current is the amount of water of water and resistance is the size of the pipe. Or maybe I am wrong?? :-) |
