mono versus stereo ampflication
The TRL amps are single ended only. I have not heard a Pass Amp and understand they are quite good.
mono versus stereo ampflication
Many mono's do have better power supplies & transformers etc. They are "overbuilt" to a higher level if you will.
mono versus stereo ampflication
You can purchase TRL M225 monoblock amps brand new for only $5500. They put out close to 300 watts per amp and I have not heard better. The TRL stereo amp, no longer being made, beat the new $7500 CJ Hybrid (ET250S) amp by a good margin when I hea...
mono versus stereo ampflication
Forgot to finish off by saying one builder's stereo amp can cetainly sound better then another's monobloc amps. Impossible to answer that part of your question without knowing the specific amps in question.
mono versus stereo ampflication
Usually the builder offers mono amps as the very top offering in the line. Usually they DO offer the best parts and represent the very best effort of that builder - if offered.I know that the power supply in my mono amps will not fit into the ster...
New preamps making new claims.
New stuff, the right new stuff, will run circles around the old stuff. I love old tube gear and have owned and still own some good old stuff. Fisher, Bogen etc.....For example a new ART SLA 2 amp can be had for $260 on Ebay new. It sounds so wonde...
New preamps making new claims.
Looks towards the power supply. This is where improvements in sound can be massive. My TRL Dude preamp has a newly designed power supply that is amazing and brings so much more music to the sound party. The power supply is where innovation brings r...
Life without a remote
No remote sounds better if a/b'd in a true state of the art preamp. I thought I could not live without it, bit now realize I can and do. Not an issue at all as my current, non-remote preamp, is heads and shoulders beyond any other pre I have owned...
Someone tell me where to find wooden volume knobs
Thanks for all the help. Great ideas here and that's one thing I love about Agon!
Help - Need Preamp under 5K for Class D amps
Desalvo55,The good news is you can try an AH 2.1 and possibly a Dude and keep the one you like better. I think both offer a trial. You can even buy a used Cary SL98, CJ LS16 etc and again keep the one you like and sell the other one. I have done ju...

Hotbird.I don't know you from Adam, but I can tell you I'm not odd. Well, not too odd. I have posted much on Agon and have owned lots of good gear. Please check my feedback and see I am not a "one note song on TRL" and am quite known to many on th...

One other idea for you. I think another good choice, for the money and to accomplish what you want when mated with your Nuforce amps, is the Cary SL98 tubed preamp. Having owned this I know it will give you the meaty mid bloom you desire. Very nic...
Help - Need Preamp under 5K for Class D amps
The reason TRL's Dude is only $3500 is because they are a small company and they don't play games with the paid reviewers. They don't have a fancy wedsite and Paul is simply a great circuit designer. There are other folks like me on this site and A...
Too excited not to share - TRL Dude tubed preamp
Rja,I live in Austin,MN. Souyhern, MN.Audioforever,The midrange has texture and body paired with absolute lack of compression. No, no worries about lean sounding here. I keep coming back to the same thought - sounds like live music in your home. U...

No info on the Tube Research Labs website. Just call Paul. He hand makes these and stands behind them. Also, when you buy from Paul he will always update your unit as changes are made. Not as pretty looking as the Eklipse, but its the sound that m...
