What is the best loudspeaker for a small room? I agree with Branislav. Compared to many rooms on this site, this is hardly small.
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? My speaker wires terminate as banana plugs. The connections with the Def 2s were always tenuous. These are more secure.
Top 5 Classical recordings I have classical CDs arranged by composer - ignoring the minor fillers. I have a separate section for CDs that have equally important compositions by more than one composer - arranged by "instrument." For example, I have a section of string music ...
Modest Speakers for Large Room I use Zu Definition 4s. They are above your price point. However, Zu does make others that are less expensive; you might give them a call. Another thought is Lore. Although I have not heard the Lores, the have some similarities with Zu. Zu offers ...
Modest Speakers for Large Room I also have a large space. My only comment is that large spaces can "kill" the sound of speakers that sound great in smaller spaces that are typical of a hi fi shop's listening room. You should try to negotiate an in-home audition.
Top 5 Classical recordings I have been thinking about this thread and have come to the conclusion that it is an almost impossible task. I have more than 1000 classical CDs ranging from Renaissance polyphony to the present. I would, however, make two small contributions. For...
The best acoustic guitar recordings?? A bit obscure, but the Melbourne Guitar Quartet's Toccata is superb
A change of speaker impedance; is it possible? If there are multiple drivers that are wired in series, it is possible to markedly increase the impedance by rewiring them in parallel. Zu Definitions have just such an option.
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? I am with Gopher on this one. . . shiny, gloss, piano black. Somehow when paired with the aluminum trim, it seems elegant rather than "common."
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? Another reason that I nixed Dominance is that I have a single pair of speaker wires that run under my floor - down one wall, through the cellar and up the opposite wall. The electronics are on the opposite side of the room from the speakers. It wo...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? My Def 4s sit only a couple of inches from the back wall - closer to the back wall than my previous Def 2s that were out about a foot. (Zu positioned both pairs without my input.) Given a 12" square footprint and a near wall position, Def 4s are a...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? I briefly (very briefly!) flirted with the idea of Dominance before my upgrade to Def 4s. However, Dominance was too visually imposing, the size was simply unacceptable, and I am not that committed to "domestic high fidelity music reproduction." C...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? Although I have neither seen nor heard the Dominance, it is twice the footprint, 25% taller, and 250% the volume of the Def 4s. Not insignificant for real-world applications.
Why did this fix my problem? Thanks!
Zu Soul Superfly When I had Zu Def 2s, I tried 45 (Yamamoto), 2a3 (DeJa Vu Audio), and eventually 300b (Ancient Audio) SETs. In part because I have very long speaker cable runs - probably 50' or so from one side of the room, under the floor through the cellar, and... |
