How do you decide what to listen to? Same old stuff?
I listen to a bit of a variety including classic rock, some types of jazz, fusion, misc. but for the biggest part I’ve always loved progressive rock. Especially the old stuff so I listen to a couple of great prog rock stations “ProgRock.com” and “...
I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
The V12 is a very nice amp especially when upgraded with really good coupling caps and some large value polypropylene caps bypassing the electrolytic caps.  Like 10uf to 20uf propylene’s.  This will really open it up.  As far as UL or Triode it de...
Cary SLP98L upgrades--yea or nay?
I’ve listened to a lot of Cary SLP-98 preamp’s with various mods.  To me in its original form it’s a bit lackluster. Not the most extended highs, nor most extended lows, and not the most detail or soundstage compared to more expensive, preamps, bu...
The Shure V15 V with a Jico SAS/B stylus VS The Soundsmith Hyperion MR and Lyra Atlas SL
I had a Shure V15  VMR and got a Jico SAS for it on my highly modded Thorens TD-125 mkII w/Rabco SL-8E tonearm.  It was very good but nothing I did could get that extra detail, space, imaging I wanted.  After a year or so I moved on trying other c...
Clipping with Separates with change of Power Conditioner[?]
Tomcarr - Yes you are correct. I have (3) 20amp lines wired directly from the breaker box. Oversized copper conduit with Furutech AC Rhodium plated outlets. Then of course good AC cabling to the isolation transformers. I’ve also replaced the outle...
Clipping with Separates with change of Power Conditioner[?]
I’m a big believer in isolation transformers.  Really clean up the sound. I use a large 20amp Equi=Tech balanced isolation transformer unit for my preamp, etc.  I would still plug my mono-block  tube amps directly into the wall until I found a cou...
HumminGuru Orbit Vinyl Record Static Remover
I appreciate the info on the pocketed sleeves.  Thanks! Now if I could just find some triple gatefold outer sleeves!
HumminGuru Orbit Vinyl Record Static Remover
Bdp24.  I’ve seen those double outer pocket type outer sleeves once before and I’ve been searching for them several times to no avail.  They looked perfect!  Who is this Canadian manufacturer of these outer sleeves and who sells them?  I’ve looked...
HumminGuru Orbit Vinyl Record Static Remover
Lewm.  I only use the static fan for brief moments.  I turn it on, pull the album out and let the fan blow on it to help the sleeve release from the record, I pull the record out and hold it under the static fan for a few seconds, flip it over and...
HumminGuru Orbit Vinyl Record Static Remover
Good question lewm.  I use an anti-static ionizing fan that produces both positive and negative ion air flow.  I use it where i take the records out of the covers.  I just hold the record up to the fan for a few seconds to discharge the static. ...
Can anyone identify this equipment?
I really doubt that’s even his system.  It’s probably a publicity picture or something for a magazine or ad or something. It would be interesting to know.  It just doesn’t look like the kind of house or style he would live in back then.  At least ...
The Audiophile Song - Who Can Relate?
CDC. This is actually why it’s great being an audio dealer!   I had a small store back in the early to late 80’s.  I just brought home whatever I wanted and when I got tired of it or wanted something different I just brought it back to the store a...
The Audiophile Song - Who Can Relate?
Cracked me up!  Shared it with my long time audio busy but decided against sharing it with my wife.  Think it will just piss her off and get us in another one of those conversations (lectures) about audio, buying records, etc.  Don’t want to go th...
Replacing Capacitors, I Don’t Wanna!
As a retired electronics (mostly) vacuum tube technician, I can’t imagine any kind of electronics needing their capacitors replaced after just 13 years.  As someone else mentioned, it looks pretty over designed and I can’t imagine you even needing...
Rythmik Audio F12/F12-400 vs JL Audio E-Sub e112
Yes bdp24, I’ve looked at switching to OB several times but finances have always stopped me from moving forward on this.  A pair of triple 12” (which is what I’d want) OB which a wood kit, etc is about twice as much as I paid for the Rythmik’s.  A...
