Thank for the response.  I have heard that they are power hungry speakers with their low sensitivity rating. What do you think?
Musical subwoofer under $2000
@lemonhaze Great advice on room response. Some don’t have tools to use to dial in the sub or subs if more then two so they play it by ear. Luckily I have REW but I use more with DIv2 a Rational Acoustics software and for this purpose it is great. ...
The subwoofer site we don't talk about enough
Good to know.
Do you adjust your subwoofer
@liquidsound  I also have a small listening room. I have my sub is also in between my speakers but I have it slightly off center. This give me the the best of both worlds with seamless and tight bass. My Vandersteen 2ci has the adequate bass for ...
Do you adjust your subwoofer
I use one sub in my room and it has worked fine for me. But again I use acoustic software that has RTA, phase , and coherence. If you are listening in one spot only, one should not do much adjustment unless you trying to fill an area that requires...
Tube preamp with Adcom amp
I have decided to go with CJ. There are two CJ preamp near me that I am interested in but cant decide. The two preamp are a PV7 or PV10AL. Both seem to be in great condition. What would be the difference? Thanks
Tube preamp with Adcom amp
Again, thanks for all the recommendations. I am leaning towards the CJ but I have not decided yet. My ideal is to get a warmer sound without losing articulate tight bass.
Tube preamp with Adcom amp
Thanks for all the recommendations. As for remote, that would be a plus but don't really need one.
Tube preamp with Adcom amp
My budget for a tube preamp to try is around 2k.
Do you adjust your subwoofer
I have a Hsu Research STF-2 which has worked fine for me with the Vandersteen 2ci. I have tune the sub where is seamlessly with the 2ci to a point where is like a house curve response. This usually a boost in the bass region and a downward slope t...
Upgrading preamp. Best for under $1K
Thank you all for all the recommendations. I am intrigued that their are quite a few within my budget that have tube preamplifier. Honestly I really like the tube sound but for the type of music I listen to might not work well and that is mostly r...
Upgrading preamp. Best for under $1K
Again thanks for all the recommendations. @soix i had the RC-980BX preamp and to my current RC-995, there was a huge difference in sound quality, especially in the bass region. It has a much better, tighter bass with better definition. The mid an...
Upgrading preamp. Best for under $1K
Thanks for the responses! It seems tubes is the way to go for preamp but will it match well with the B&K amp?
Not Thrilled with Vandersteen 2CE Sigs - where is the first place to work on?
I have the 2ci they do sound different from other speakers I had but I would say is is more of a natural, realistic sound with a warm touch. It is all personal preference. Room layout and speakers position are crucial for the these models. I have ...
Flat frequency response
I honestly prefer the house curve in my room. This is where the the bass region is above the reference level and trending at a downward slope where the up end of the frequency response(20k) is probably at about 6db/oct. In linear scale, theoretica...
