Nightmare selling to Canada
Markphd, I think you've got it wrong. I think it's only a crime if you insure it for MORE than what the product is worth. To my knowledge there's suppose to be a difference between "declared value" and "insured value" but for private transactions,...
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
Rcupka, I think marketing is very important and if anything, Tenor probably didn't do a good enough job of marketing. But their restructuring is apparantly complete and slowly but hopefully surely, they'll be back up.
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
Rcupka, are you suggesting that the Tenors are more about marketing than performance and Lamm is not? Compare the number of ads, the size of the ads, and the placement of ads between the two companies and you tell me which one wins out? Also, if y...
Room size for Kharma 1.0s, need to downsize...
Is it possible to try them out in your new room and then decide? Alternatively, you can consider the 3.1 as a lower cost option and perhaps add the sub (although the sub might be too big_ for more bass extension in replace of resolution.
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
Interesting insights Fmpnd, although I think you're one of the few I've heard from who actually prefered the M1.2 over the ML1.1s. Since you chose the M1.2s, I'm guessing you preferred it overall over the ML2.1s as well?
How do you know a loudspeaker is the best?
Adding to Aroc's comments, when the instruments start sounding the same as you described in your step3 Marakanetz, it is more likely that you've become a good player of many instruments than having the best speakers.
difference between Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1?
I always use DTS when it's available. I haven't really spent time A/Bing it though but I DTS generally sounds a bit deeper.
"It doesn't impress you at first..."
But music is often an acquired taste. It is the subtle things that often separate a great musician from merely good and you can't begin to appreciate the subtle things that a musician does until you understand more about the music and the instrume...
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade???
IMO, the Kharma's can sound fabulous with a variety of less expensive electronics. Of course, if you want to extract EVERYTHING they are capable of you'll have to pay accordingly.I share the same sentiments although we seem to be the minority. Mos...
Subwoofer Cables. How important is quality?
Well-built cables that total to less than ten percent (mine are about five percent) of total system cost is a fair figure for cable costI believe that most people's cable costs generally work themselves out to be around 10% of their system costs a...
Blind Power Cord Test & results
I parted with a couple of powercords recently that I really liked. I didn't want to part with them, but it did free up some funds. Like Albert said, a quick A/B produced dramatic differences for me. The differences did not exactly diminish through...
Best of Audiogon Members
There are many members who have been helpful and friendly. Shoot an email to most audiogoners and they'll generally take the time to reply (unless they happen to have ruthless email filters!) Mike Lavigne, Tireguy, Panorama have taken the most tim...
how good are burnt dvd's?
Basically what Kgturner said. But whether you can tell a difference or not would be entirely subjective. If the movie itself fits perfectly into a single-sided DVD-R then it should be the same. But theoretically, if your compression rate is 90% of...
Storm III or Stadium III for Martin Logan SL3's?
With the possible exception of the Studios and peculiar system matching, Rel subs are generally never "too big" for your room because as you move up the line you also get more speed/"quicker" bass. For best integration, you're not suppose to crank...
Tenor Audio
They're suppose to make an announcement about their new contact info any day now but they're not they're probably not the quickest in updating their site.Fatparrot, what do you mean by Tenor amps chewing up their tubes? Are you asking about their ...
