Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade?
@kota1  yeah right, I've never heard that with Atmos, maybe with Bacch

@kota1  I doubt that, even with all that processing if you could walk around the room and the center channel was still just as coherent, then it would be too much if you did sit in the sweet spot .
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
I find that all that Dolby processing takes away from the music.
The problem with PLC
Funny you say that. Most of his inventions were theoretical so not tangible.    Most of his works were discoveries not inventions, and some were proven while he was still alive.
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
I don't think ESL's are the only loudspeakers that don't suffer from thermal compression, what about full range panel speakers like apogees?

@kota1 why would you need a center channel for most music recordings? My apogee duetta 2 speakers have no problem with center imaging when the recording has it, it would ruin the imaging with a center channel with most recordings.

@mihorn so if I listen to your YouTube presentation through my cheap computer speakers the sound will be natural?

@kota1 I didn't say that my friends stereo's suck, it's just that Atmos sucks for music. I didn't care for anything Dolby did since there beginning.

You can still get 50 year old krell amps serviced,  and I'm sure pass labs services their older equipment. Try having a run of the mill mainstream piece of audio equipment serviced, usually doesn't happen.

@kota1 all my speakers are pointed straight, not aimed at my head and they sound way better than all my friends Atmos systems. Atmos is an unnatural effect for a lot of types of music especially unamplified music.

@johnk there are many high end audio products that last a lifetime with proper maintenance.
Stereo or monoblocks
You can probably get a better stereo amp than monoblocks at the same price. If you compare monoblocks amps to a stereo  amp of the same design and watts per channel then monoblocks will have the better performance, but at a higher price tag.
Speakers and amplifiers show audiophiles are confused.
Most of the new krell amps have fans to keep them cool.

@ bigkidz +1   The theory doesn't always hold true.
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@borisj try switching the tubes to the other channel just to make sure it's the tubes and not just a connection problem. It's possible that the tubes are bad, even if they are matched, tube testers don't test the tubes at the same parameters that ...
