Auto Room Equalization?
Yes, I agree with you Erik 100%, EQ is only one tool in the box!I do know I had a Behringer unit in my system about a decade ago. For many weeks I played around with the Auto Correction function when I got it...and played around...and around... I ...
Auto Room Equalization?
I think Audyssey allows for a cut-only approach if you dial it in, but I'm not really aware if there are many others with that capability. I haven't looked at them all, but I'm not so far aware of others that do.
Auto Room Equalization?
@almarg Yes, I did end up murdering what I stated that Al said in his post above about typical systems being rather less efficient to our ears in the bass. Al in fact, of course, was Not saying that at all (although I am). Sorry Al.But, the quote ...
Auto Room Equalization?
Manual EQ is better than Auto Correction. Plus, I suspect that in the end the microphone just doesn’t interpret our systems the way our ears do...and it might not really matter what measurement parameter you care to talk about: frequency, time, ph...
Using I2S With the Denafrips Terminator and Metrum Ambre?
@alvin1118   Would a PS Audio Perfect Wave Transport be compatible, or could be made to be compatible, with I2S into a PONTUS?? Unless I’m wrong, I *think* the Perfect Wave is (HDMI) I2S-A (??). I know it does not have USB out, but I’m still curio...
Musicians in your living room vs. you in the recording hall?
Assuming the speakers and system have a neutral perspective, that might depend on how far away the mikes in the recording were. For large scale orchestra, I might like to be "there". For close-miked bands I like them to be "here".
What are important features in a listening chair
Try to avoid some fabrics like microsuede which can cause a static build up when you move to get up from it and then go to touch your gear, it can be hell on your digital in winter. Also I avoid the usual cheap leather substitutes than can creak a...
What other hobby or hobbies do you have?
Back yard astronomy when I have the opportunity for it, which has not been that often the last decade or so. But, I'm dusting off a planetary Newtonian telescope that I built in 1994 (not quite as difficult as you might think) and will be getting ...
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ?
But then, I can't rule anything out either...the above is just my 2 cents.
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ?
I was playing hooky yesterday, but I still would answer the OP by saying that fundamentally speaking, that I don't think that there are distortions that we might prefer, just those that we might think we prefer until we hear it done better more pr...
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ?
When it comes to harmonics (and I realize this thread is about whether or not we might "prefer" any certain kind of distortion), then overall I'd think that the most "realistic" reproduction of harmonics across the board would be the one most immu...
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ?
You might, I suppose, indeed come up with a preference for a single-generation copy tape to the original vinyl, but if your system's response were being continually improved by other means, would you come to the point that all you preferred was th...
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ?
Well I don't think it could Rilly be better. If it were, then the more tape copies you make from the original tape, then the better the result should sound, yes??
Chinese fake cables How fake, how good?
The whole point of making a counterfeit is to rip you off. Most people are pissed when that happens.I guess some people seem to have trouble picking up on the concept. I imagine this might give the counterfeiters some pause...maybe they’re not goo...
Naim anomalies!?
Many manufacturers might wish that people buy all their same brand for a complete system, even if most will choose to mix and match with other brands. But Naim always struck me as being different. Seems like they made an effort, more than any othe...
