Chinese knock-off headphone amps Buy American!
KLH model 9 electrostatic Speakers I used a 25 watt PP tube amp with my KLH Nines successfully! Now have a Futterman H3 25 wpc OTL tube amp!
In term of construction, what's the difference between cheap vs. expensive power cables "Audiophile" power cords are a clever marketing ploy to profit from the gullible and deluded!
In term of construction, what's the difference between cheap vs. expensive power cables I used ordinary 14 gauge lampcord to connect my Quad 57's to the wall AC - for 19 years when I stupidly sold them! No problems noted!
In term of construction, what's the difference between cheap vs. expensive power cables The sound of any electronic component starts with its power supply. NOT with what comes before it! A power cord is NOT part of the power supply! Contrary to what the deluded believe!
My experience with bi-wiring +1 audioman58! A true active x-over with a separate amp for each driver and NO passive x-over is the ne-plus-ultra of speaker design! The Waveform Mach 1 was like that tri-amped with a Bryston active x-over and three Bryston 2-channel amps!
My experience with bi-wiring +1 fiesta75! I have done that with an active x-over and four mono amps + four speakers (two for L/R mids/treble, two for L/R bass). The improvement in dynamic range and freedom from amp clipping was most noticeable!
Amplifier Break-in - It's Real I notice no difference in SQ of the amp (Sumo Andromeda) and the CD player (Marantz CD67) from cold! The Sumo amp sounds excellent no matter how many hours it has been on!
Amplifier Break-in - It's Real Some here believe that solid state gear should be left on 24/7 for optimal SQ. I leave my preamp powered on and turn my amp off when I stop listening for the day. My tuner stays on 24/7 because I listen to WUSF 89.7 FM college radio throughout the...
How are you checking tonearm level? Rake angle is judged by a side view of the cartridge. Azimuth is judged by a front view for perpendicularity to the LP surface.
How are you checking tonearm level? It doesn’t need to be parallel! You can play with the "rake angle" by adjusting the tonearm height! The cutting angle of LPs has always varied! By adjusting the rake angles for different LPs your cartridge can more accurately trace the grooves!
KLH model 9 electrostatic Speakers I have owned a pair of KLH Nines since 1992. There is absolutely NO benefit to replacing the stock power cords - contrary to what the neurotically obsessed will claim! The power supplies are low-current and adequately designed! Their sound starts ...
Audio Technica AT - LP 120 USB Turntable opinion I guess this turntable has a built-in phono stage to be connected via a USB cable/connector to a high-level input on.a receiver/integrated amp.
Compatibility of Cary SLI-100 with ProAc? Magnepan? Many tube amps have an output impedance greater than 1 ohm. Add a speaker with a rising impedance in the bass and high frequencies and the result is boosted bass and treble sound. This type of amp will track the speaker's impedance curve. Resultin...
Compatibility of Cary SLI-100 with ProAc? Magnepan? For Magneplanars you need a high- current/high-wattage amp like a Crown XLS-1502. Tube amps are a poor match! |
