Vintage Tube Gear Priced Insane Now A limited supply with increased demand raises prices. I paid $1800 for a rare pair of Paoli Dynaco MkIII tube amps some years ago. I consider it a good investment.
Whest BII Mastering Buffer Too bad it costs £3299. At 1/10 it would be an interesting add-on.
Case in point: a $90,000 power cord by ASUNZ Ansuz should get some rap stars to wear them around their necks!
I got a pair of ATC SCM10 A2? Something like that Enjoyment is subjective. Accuracy is objective.

Less expensive alternatives to Klipsch Heritage Cornwall IV? The late Art Dudley loved his Altec Valencia's/Flamenco's. The modern version is the Altec 19. They will certainly trounce any Klipsch!
Less expensive alternatives to Klipsch Heritage Cornwall IV? Altec Stonehenge 1’s will rock out better than those speakers listed above. I have a pair plus several more Altec’s in my collection. I paid less than $500 for my pair.
Recommend an amp + pre for ESL 57s and a new turntable (way out of my league) @pindac I owned my first pair of 57's from 1981 to 2000 when I reluctantly sold them. I used a Bedini 25/25 with them along with a pair of Futterman H3aa OTL tube amps. In 2018 I bought two pairs of 57's to use in a stacked array. I was also able ...
Recommend an amp + pre for ESL 57s and a new turntable (way out of my league) @pindac : The OP needs a phono stage to utilize his turntable and moving coil cartridge. The Quad 33 has a fine phono stage. It will require a SUT (Step Up Transformer) to use with the Miyajima cartridge. A Bellari SUT is about $350. I have one. It...
Recommend an amp + pre for ESL 57s and a new turntable (way out of my league) I also have a nicely restored HK TA-230 tube integrated amp. That will work with the 57's though I have yet to try it out with them. I still think the 303 amp is superior. A 33 and 303 pair can be found within your budget.
Recommend an amp + pre for ESL 57s and a new turntable (way out of my league) I recommend a Quad 303 amp and the matching Quad 33 preamp. I have a nicely restored 303 to use with my 57’s. The 303 amp was designed specifically to drive the 57's. The Quad pre and amp is a heavenly match with the 57’s.
Can I get my Prima Luna to sound more like a SET/300B? The OP should ditch the Gold Lion KT77's and buy a set of NOS RCA 6L6 Black Plates. I have a quad set to use in my Heath W5 monos.
Can I get my Prima Luna to sound more like a SET/300B? Why would you want to do that? Ralph Karsten of Atmosphere has posted here on another thread about why a well-designed PP tube amp is inherently superior to SET amps. Single end amps are distortion-generating devices. Past the first 25% of wattage... |
