Carver and Tube Life
I cannot comment on the Silver Sevens. I do, however, own the Carver Crimson 275 amp, which carriers a long warranty on tubes.  I have made some amps and modify stuff for fun.  I can tell you that, while I'm not familiar with the circuits involved...
Peeking inside a Carver Crimson 275 Tube Amplifier
@fmalitz, Hope all is well with you!  Your curriculum vitae is impressive indeed!  Thanks for dropping by these humble parts.  I trust you know, from my correspondence and previous phone call or two, that I respect everything you, EJ, and Bob have...

One more thing--  The crossover PCB is very high quality.  Huge traces, thick board, giant through holes.

Crossovers: I've now completed the crossover upgrade, including all caps to VCap (with exception of that 60uF linked to the woofer output) and Path Audio resistors. Dampening:  I've also damped the tweeter, midhorn, and bass ports.  After knocking...
Why have capacitors improved so much over the years?
jfd11, hmmm, you have to tell us the name or it's like it never happened.
Oscar Peterson Performance 1983 Live in Tokyo
What wonderful musical ideas they had. Thanks for posting the link to the video.

Anyone with Manley Chinook use a custom Power Cord?
I also replaced 3 of the 4 ceramic cast resistors on the power supply side for Mills 10w military spec.  I removed the 3.3uF and put in a 12uF.  I think the 12uF sounds better, but I'm not sure why.  Maybe Manley was on to something with the 30uF-...
Three cheers for Keith Herron
@OP,  that is a wonderful evening!  Thank you for sharing.  That's exactly the sentiment and fact pattern needed around these parts. I, for one, have never owned any Herron gear. But, I would love to try some out.  He seems to understand circuits ...
Anyone with Manley Chinook use a custom Power Cord?
I took Lewm's advice, but I also did a bit of math and consulted some smart dudes on DIY forums.  I went from 30, down to 3.3uF, as it did appear that cap was way overkill. Still breaking things in (and I only dry fitted the 3.3uFs).  Things are p...

The PathAudio resistors have been ordered.  I'm close to pulling the trigger with Chris at VCap.  I've damped the high, mid and bass ports. I've managed to use my existing Auralex Subdude II isolation pads under them--they actually fit even though...
Decoupling for Cornwall IV's
Guys, FYIThe larger Auralex Subdude does fit under the platform of the CWIV.  It's left to right measurement "appears" to be about 1" shy of ideal--but when I looked at the CWIV bottom platform base, it is made of 3/4" plywood/MDF, which means you...
Anyone with Manley Chinook use a custom Power Cord?
@Lewm, The Chinook uses a 30uF cap on the outputs to RCA.  I'm thinking of trying a 10uF.
Audiophile Loudness Wars—Too Much again!?
+1 itsjustme.
Subwoofer Footing - Connect or Isolate?
I use Auralex Subdude platforms. Things sound more defined, controlled and right with them.
