Thank you Don for the follow-up. I opened them up today to take a look around and damp the mid horn and tweeter. As an aside, the damping made a real difference. I was not surprised as I damped my Forte IIIs and it helped materially there too. You...

Oz, you are correct. tubebuffer, you have a way with words.
Blown away by a vinyl version of a CD?
@mglik ,  Congrats! I had this experience in about 2015--despite the fact that I got my first TT in 1978 and have had one since.  For me it was Bill Evans Waltz for Debbie (1962).  I made a few upgrades on the analog side of my system that got me ...
BEWARE OF FRAUD with this member
Yikes!  Thanks for the heads up and I wish you the best in getting the deal fixed to your satisfaction.

@earlflynn,  you say, "Hersey are nice with low powered tube amps also, one could do better though than any Klipsch speaker."Can you explain what you are saying here?  I'm confused as to your point and the context for your experience.  Thanks!
How much difference does a phono preamp really make?
OP, as others have said the phono preamp makes or can make a material difference. It changed the game for me. If I didn’t jump to a good stage (Manley Chinook) I would’ve thought digital had eclipsed vinyl for good. That is not so. They are differ...

@donsachs , Hi Don!  I started to put together a parts list to modify the crossover caps.  I like VCAP much. I've used their CuTFs before.  Can you shed some light on where one could cut corners a bit to save cost?  The reason I ask is that the mo...
Considering a POSSIBLE replacement for speakers. Opinions?
AXPONA in chicago is a go this fall! You could hear lots of speakers in 1-3 days time. Moving up Monitor Audio’s lines is a great idea. IF you knew you liked something you could wait and watch the used classified advertisements. You are definitely...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what?
I’ve tried a couple class D units. They were good but not great to me. I’m game to try some more. Anyone try a class G amp?  I had a Creek class G. Very cool topology: first 25 watts was all Class A and the switching side kicked in north of that t...
British Integrated Amps
What about Roksan ?  I haven’t heard one in years but they always had great PRAT.
British Integrated Amps
Creek Evo 100 was a fantastic pairing with PSB Imagine T2s and KEF LS50s.  There’s a big jump in build quality, parts and sound between the 50 and 100.  The 100 is a steal used but pricey new.
Need a DAC Recommendation.
I adore my Doge Audio Tube DAC.  In my system and my room, it beat out lots of stuff and it's been too difficult to find a reasonably priced upgrade so it stays.  Due to demand, prices have gone up.  I think it you could get them delivered in 3-4 ...
Looking for an amp that punches way about its weight and I can grow with
I like my Carver Crimson 275 so much so that I sold off my Primaluna Dialogue HP Integrated.  The Carver Crimson even bested the PL after I upgraded the caps to VCAP and Audyn. The sound is delicious.  They are just shy of $3k, but sometimes out o...
Best dac under $2500 - comparing build quality and technologies
That's a tough question, especially at that price point.  Of course my next paragraph must deal with what I've heard and recommend.  If you want big, fat, and delicious try the Doge Tube Dac.   Disclaimer--I own one.

Thank you Don!  I'm very tempted to make that swap.  Maybe I'll damp the midrange and take a look around.  I may wait til the fall and the cold air hits Chicago, as summer is too short up here. I'm very, very tempted.
