Looking for integrated solid state amp for daily usage
Try listening to a Wyred4Sound integrated to see if it meets your preferences in sound. Even the model on the lowest rung (STI-VII) has lots of power and all the models have low power consumption in the stand-by mode. Good luck in our search. Jim

50 ways to leave your lover
Thanks, Soix! Nice point perfectly illustrated by the video. I'm not a drummer but I appreciate this.
What do you all think of ADS/Braun speakers?
I enjoyed a pair of 710Ls for many years until I acquired Harbeth M30s, which are better to my ears. If you’ve a mind to, take a look at the Vintage asylum at AA, where I read posts from folks who collect, refurbish, and sell ADS speakers. Good lu...
Playback Apps
Ddude003, Thank you for responding! I just looked at Spotify, and it comes close. It’ll self-generate playlists for a number of different “categories,” more categories than the Sony. But unlike the Sony, which creates the playlist from the tracks...
Then Play On
Great post to read first thing Sunday morning. Thanks, Islandmandan!

After fifty years… amazing. What high end audio can be.
I am delighted to read about your happiness and satisfaction with your system and your enjoyment of music. Like elliottbnewcombjr, I also just turned 74, and like both you and him, I’m lucky enough to enjoy what I have. May we have many more happ...
Classical music newbie needs your suggestions
Hi, I could write at length with suggestions, but I’ll try to limit myself. Some folks above have suggested some accessible beautiful pieces, such as Pachelbel’s Canon. I’ll add Handel’s concerto grosso Alexander’s Feast, and three discs by piani...
Classical piano solo—Your one favorite performance and recording
Vikingur Olafsson plays Debussy-Rameau
A perfect song? What are your choices?
Stephen Sondheim's "Send in the Clowns." Simple, elegant melody and poetic, insightful lyrics are matched beautifully.
Great classical pianists
In addition to Jeremy Denker and Vikingur Olafsson, I'll add Jennifer Hewitt and Andras Schiff. So many wonderful pianists, so little time!
Great classical pianists
Jeremy Denker (Bach), Vikingur Olafsson (Bach, Debussy, Rameau)
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
@inscrutable, thanks for the rec! I hadn’t heard their version before. You’re correct that it’s a unique approach to the song, and a really good one. Beautiful harmonies and strong individual singing.
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
K.D. Lang’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” is superior to Cohen’s original and to all the other covers I’ve heard (and there are a lot of them). Her cover is on “Hymns of the 49th Parallel,” a terrific disc of her covers of other songs writ...
