Opinions on a Threshold T-200 Congrats Jasman, I think you will be happy. That is a killer deal. I usually see them going for around $1400-$1800. Enjoy.Regards,John
High priced power cords and power conditioners???? Steve, it basically means that the ground plug is isolated from the conductor box (house ground) all the way to the breaker box. 10-3 Romex actually has 4 conductors. Hot, neutral, 2 grounds, one ground for electrical circuit, one ground for box. ...
High priced power cords and power conditioners???? I agree with Sugarbrie, if at all possible get the dedicated lines first. I have (2) dedicated 20A lines with isolated grounds. I use one for digital and one for analog. Total cost, about $250. That's including Romex 10-3, PS Audio Power Ports, an...
Opinions on a Threshold T-200 I haven't heard the T200, but I own a T400, I'll assume their sonic signature is similar. The T400 is my current amp, I'm very happy with it. I've owned Classe, Coda, Aragon and Krell amps over the years and auditioned many others, I don't think s...
5 most recognizable voices in American music? Your list is definitely many famous voices, but of American music today? Maybe American music yesterday. I'll still agree with 'The King', however I may modernize the list just a tad.(No particular order)Elvis PresleyBob DylanBruce SpringsteenJame...
Ok this will be a good thread. Good one Rosstaman, I can agree with that. I don't feel I can pick one part of the system out. Like a car, which is the most important part? If you say engine, and drive with cheap brakes, you may be in trouble. Another good analogy is the old jok...
Aerial replacement for 10T ? Does anyone know why Aerial Acoustics stopped producing the 10T? Why would you stop making what made you famous? The 20T is at a much higher price point than the 10T. There is about $14K between the 8b and the 20T, that's a pretty large gap to fil...
preamp vs. no-preamp Come on Sean, jeesh, I'm sorry. That's what people were calling them in the very early 90's. Technically, you are correct. However, I will not be submitting a 5000 word essay.........passive preamp.. whoops I said it again...hehe...buffered unit.....
preamp vs. no-preamp I'll stick in the pro preamp camp. Although I don't think I ever went direct from CDP to amp (I've always had too many sources), I did experiment in the early 90's with passive preamps. I didn't care for them overall. They were very revealing, but...
Do you leave your SS amp on all the time? Sean, thanks for the post. You make some valid points. I may try leaving it on. Ventilation is not a problem. My system sits on Lovan Sovereign AVR rack, which is 43" wide. The Threshold shares the top shelf with my turntable. So there is about 4+...
Do you leave your SS amp on all the time? Sean, maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that leaving class A amps on all the time would significantly lower their lifespan. I've seen many used Threshold/Coda and other class A amps on the used marketplace where the heatsinks have di...
Do you leave your SS amp on all the time? I turn mine off. If I had a Class A/AB amp I may leave it on, however my amp (Threshold T400) is Class A. Too much money, too much heat. It seems to 'warm up' faster being a class A amp though.
Flipping the LP over ... I turn the table off first.
What makes more sense? I agree with KF, especially because 87 db is a good reason to go with a SS amp and tubed pre. The combo you mentioned sounds intriguing. Haven't heard the MF, but the SF Line 1 is a nice preamp.Regards,John
Should I Upgrade My Krells Nrchy, it's a matter of different taste. Harsh is a harsh word. Some like their equipment to be 'detailed' or 'revealing'. What may be detailed and revealing to one person is bright and harsh to another. The other side of the coin is some prefer a... |
