2.1 system needs 3 HDMI inputs??
There are tons of devices that do what you want but most aren't cheap because if you want cheap, just buy a receiver. Arcam has (or had) a 2 channel receiver with HDMI inputs. The Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 and NAD M33 both have optional HDMI boards. The ...
Uptone Audio EtherREGEN review
Anyone who puts any stock into ASR wouldn't be trying one of these devices in the first place.
Wood racks and humidity
I have a Timbernation rack that is over 2 years old. Live in a very high humidity (swampy) location and humidity inside the house can get fairly high since my wife is cold blooded and keeps the AC very warm. I've never noticed the slightest issue ...
Uptone Audio EtherREGEN review
@yoby Yes mine stays on all the time. It runs very hot by design as the case acts as a heat sink. That's detailed somewhere in the manual, I recall. When we go out of town I unplug it just because I know it's a waste of electricity sitting there o...
Uptone Audio EtherREGEN review
I think he means "ethernet over power" - adapters to run your network through your electrical outlets. I'm not sure if that works. Mine is a standard setup of router to EtherRegen to DAC/Amp with ethernet cables.
Move From AVR to Integrated?
@coolhandduke honestly, just keep your receiver. You’re going to get advice from a very strange group here, like people telling you a speaker is no good because of the sensitivity rating... You can try pre-outs to an external amp but for the inves...
What speaker – under $10k – has the best timbre and tonal qualities?
As noted by others, I see a lot of responses which seem to be "what speaker do I like" as oppose to focusing on the timbral accuracy. In my experience, the most natural timbre I ever heard (by far) was from a pair of MBL 120's. Those are above thi...
Amp repair cost — is this right?
I figured I'd update this thread in case anyone was interested.I went ahead and authorized the repair. I was already out $160 for the diagnostic, $115 for shipping, and would pay another $100ish to have it shipped back. Then if I found a different...
Next Best Upgrade for Tidal MQA?
@bruxesq That Mytek DAC is $6k on its own so not even close to a valid comparison against an integrated amp / DAC / streamer / room correction device for $6,500, much less the $2k TDAI-1120. And the room correction, depending on your space, could ...
Next Best Upgrade for Tidal MQA?
@bruxesq here's a perhaps slightly out of the box possibility. Check out the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120. That will give you an integrated amp with home theater bypass, streaming, and room correction all in one device for about $2k. You could biamp your sp...

Amp repair cost — is this right?
@mrdecibel no need to try to stir the pot... You're talking about yourself yes, but at least the topic is related, so have at it. I was pointing out that people were bringing up completely unrelated things like bathroom remodels or completely esot...
Amp repair cost — is this right?
@atmasphere yes I did see it, thank you for the feedback.@mahler123 not sure where this 30 minute drive thing came from. The shop is many states away and would probably be a 14 hour drive each direction
Amp repair cost — is this right?
FWIW to those that brought it up, I called and the shop said they only use Nichicon, Vishay, and ELNA caps
Amp repair cost — is this right?
@georgehifi @mozartfan both of you referenced the a308 integrated amp. Mine is just an amp, and the internal layout looks completely different
