LINN vs ATC choice .... I've always found the Ninkas to be a little too polite. Aktiv certainly helped. Not until run by a Unidisk/Exotik/5125 have I heard them sound really lively.I recently changed my Wakonda to a later production run, and it's quite smooth, but recess...
Linn Genki variable output versus Majik pre-amp Interesting. I've got B&W in my movie system, due to my opposing tastes.Goes to show - one's own ears are the best for advice.Cheers,KP
Linn Genki variable output versus Majik pre-amp The valves could well have a more pleasing sound, but that is a personal taste. What detracts from valves in my mind is the bass weight and upkeep costs.Re speakers, I've never heard B&Ws sound good with LINN gear - they just don't seem to lik...
difference between ATC SCM7 and SCM12? I definitely want the 12s, but am waiting for sufficient cash flow.Ninkas, while being very pleasant - can't hold a candle to the ATCs in speed or midrange. I currently own a pair and they're gorgeous, much nicer in appearance than the ATCs, and s...
2 lk-85's or 1 lk-140 absolutley - if you have the money, a 2250 is the best way to start
2 lk-85's or 1 lk-140 Lugnut and Thsalmon are right: if you have a retailer available, passive vs aktiv is not a major change for the Keilidhs, so I wouldn't worry too much there. For the amps, if you're going to be getting LINN speakers anew, get aktiv 85s or 140s with...
Majik enough power to drive Katans? I ran my Majik with Ninkas for a while before adding a pair of LK85s, and it rocked. I was really worried and it was never a problem. My room is 24+ by 12 by 9, with an open kithen at one end and sunroom at the other, and I was always afraid the n...
LK-85 vs LK-140 for Aktiv w/ Keilith LK140s will have more bass and a clearer top end. I'm running bi-aktiv 85s on Ninkas with a Wakonda and it is quite nice.BTW - my retailer always recommends the lk140 for the tweeter in an lk85/lk140 mix; sounds counterintuitive, but LINN recommen...
Linn OEM Power Cables I haven't had personal experience, but my retailer, whom I've known for about ten years [and who is famously known for being particular] doesn't like non-OEMs in his own gear.

What speakers would you recomend for Linn Majik? Tukans or Katans, Ninkas if possible. The Katans are astounding for their size, esp if you add another amp for passive or aktiv bi.B&W and LINN are notoriously bad sounding together.
Should I buy a third Linn lk85. If you are truly running aktiv from the LK85s, ie with a treble and bass card, go for a new CD player. And if you can, the upgraded bases for Ninkas make a HUGE difference.LINN are proponents of, and it's worked well in my experience- drop the cas...
Linn Genki variable output versus Majik pre-amp The Majik, definitely. The Genki sounds a little bright and hashy by comparison, esp. in an all LINN setup [my frame of ref.]. If you can get a Wakonda, even better yet!
Linn Majik speaker connection BTW- a big improvement in detail and dynamics can be had by using LINN std interconnect instead of the supplied jumpers for connecting the pre-out and amp section. I was originally using Tara jumpers, and then went to LINN i/c. Very pleasing impro...
Linn Majik speaker connection A LINN dealer can supply you with the needed terminations. They're not much and do provide a better connection than banannas. A point to note, if you ever go to a dedicated LINN amp, you will need different terminations again. |
