Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
I had a 15-band EQ in a tape loop of my receiver in my first system back in 1982. I think it was a BSR or ADC. Back then I wanted as many components in the rack as possible....more drivers, more watts, more volume, read the specs, etc.  The system...
Does a record player make that much of a difference??
It really depends on the specific turntables in question, and how resolving the whole system is.  It shouldn't be as dramatic as a cartridge or speaker change, but TT differences can certainly be audible.  Whether those difference are better or no...
Integrated or Power amps compatible with both EL 34 and 6L6 tubes

2 Monitor Audio Silver RS8 + 2 Sunfire SDS 12 subwoofers + 1 B&K St-202+ Sonata amp...
You can certainly bi-wire your Monitor Audios from the Sonata amp. Just remove the jumper, and run a 2nd set of wires off the same amp outputs...one set to the top, one set to the bottom. The benefit of this comes from creating separate circuit lo...
Big speakers, are they really the best way to get great sound?
Smaller speakers in a smaller room make sense. You can always add a small sub if you need a little boost. Large speakers in a small room can be very difficult to control. It’s all relative to woofer output and the volume of space you’re trying to ...
AT-95ML on a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon
The VM95ML is a good performer and great value, however, my take is that your gear is worthy of better.  If you're going to bother to install a cart on the arm, IMO now's the right time to grab the VM540 (or better) and be done with it, then enjoy...
Finally arrived !!
My journey has come to an end.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣   Good stuff, so congrats anyway, even if you can't make good on actually ending this ride! 😉
ARE AUDIOPHILES OVERLY SENSITIVE BY NATURE?FEELINGS AND OPINIONS?
Audio is extremely subjective....much more so than most areas of interest that people gravitate to. That naturally makes it tougher to agree on anything. Everyone is right in their own mind, and wrong in the eyes of most others....just ask an audi...
Do you think driver “break in” is real?
@willywonka "I know I’m the minority, but I think break-in for almost all audio products is non-existent! It’s your hearing that is changing and adjust to the new sound, NOT the stereo components! The whole BREAK IN thing is mostly complete non...
Do you think driver “break in” is real?
There's a definite physical break in of woofer suspension components...spider, surround, etc.  I'm a believer that there's burn in of capacitors too, but that's less tangible and harder to grasp for some.
Bi Amping: highs and lows or a seperate amp for the left and right.
With a vertical stereo bi-amp configuration, there’s still the benefit of the tweeter (and mid) running on a different circuit than the woofer. Even if the power supply is shared by two channels, each channel sees a different circuit load (assumin...
Best Vintage tube amp / preamp manufacturer
Dynaco was likely never considered "best" in sheer performance, but it could certainly be argued that they were best bang for the buck.  Very good gear for the money... they sold a boatload, and are still somewhat relevant today. Eico, Scott, Str...
Bi Amping: highs and lows or a seperate amp for the left and right.
Two identical stereo amps run in a vertical bi-amp configuration (one amp on each speaker) have similar advantages as monoblocks...physical separation, no crosstalk, and a dedicated power supply for each speaker. Plus, you can run the tweeters or ...
Is there miracles in audio experience ?
Eureka! It's a miracle! 😎 Along time ago I gave up trying to chase down and understand all the phenomena that occur in my system that I simply don’t fully understand, but by the definition stated in your last paragraph, yeah, I hear those "miracl...
Are cable “upgrades” just as likely to make your system sound worse?
According to the rules of placebo effect , it should sound better if that’s what you had hoped for! 😁 Honestly, what we prefer is always subjective, but I’ve definitely had cables that I didn’t like, or at least that had traits I didn't want in t...
