Vincent SV-236MK
undoubtedly there are better amps than the vincent out there--the pass labs int are great--but you'd probably be looking at significantly more $$ for incremental improvement. i like unplugged's suggestion of upgrading the tubes.
Klipsch subwoofers...Any good?
i haven't heard the current reference series but at various times owned the ksw subs, which were kinda boomy/non-musical. (i still own an old mk volkswoofer, which is excellent), i'd agree that hsu, svs, etc. would be worth looking at

What do you think of soundbars compared to speakers?
a firend of mine has the yamaha yas203, which is <$400, and i was surprised at how immersive it was--seems to get very good reviews as well
Rolling Stones Blue and Lonesome
i agree with hodu that they're loose and having fun--it's nice to see them get away from the rigid studiocraft that sucked the life out of most of their recent stuff. however, there's a vague sense of parody to the project--they maintain a certain...
Tune of the Day
the jam, "ghosts". pretty song.
Random thoughts from a sort of, kind of audiophile
i'm surprised noone's commented on the op's opinion regarding power supply. there seems to be enough real science to support the real measurable benefits of a clean power supply, even if some of us are losing our ability to hear the differences
Tune of the Day
the priest, by joni mitchell. best song nick drake never wrote. 35 years after first hearing it i still remeber the lyrics. which must signify something
Samsung buys Harman for $8B
So far this is my experience with my 2012 Plasma TV that had a main board fail.  Excellent TV until it decided not to completely power up one day.  I may amend this post if they come through with a partial(depreciated) refund after "reviewing"...
Mose Allison
his lyrics were very sharp, with a sort of angsty, rebellious edge--you can see where pete townsend took a lot of inspiration. allmusic also lists hendrix, elvis c. and lyle lovett as his followers, which seems correct.
Worth Upgrading Marantz 1504 AV Receiver with Power Amp?
i haven't heard your avr, tho it appears to be fairly modestly powered. although some mainstream avrs like nad have better amp sections than others, i personally haven't heard a mainstream avr which didn't benefit from external amping, and the nam...
Mose Allison
he wrote a good handful of classics (everybody's crying mercy, parchmans farm, young man blues, etc.), which is harder than you think in that genre. i saw him live twice, i think (once for sure with bonnie raitt) and he was just like you picture h...
Samsung buys Harman for $8B
from what i've read, the home audio business is an afterthought--the real target is in  auto/connectivity--it sounds like the end goal is to integrate car systems with home security, appliances, etc. harmon is a bigger player in the car space than...
Worst record ever?
i recently heard "my favorite underwear" by liz phair, whose "exile in guyville" was a revered classic. it is unquestionably the most pandering execrable record ever made and is actually physically painful to listen to.
Seller asked for PayPal fees after the sale. Should I pay them or not?
i agree with the consensus that you shouldn't pay a previously-undisclosed cost. more fundamentally, i've always found it tacky for a seller to lay off paypal fees on a buyer, much as i would object to a merchant laying off credit card fees--paypa...
