Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary?
I have two pairs of balanced cables.  One pair was pretty expensive.  Actually now that I think about it was real expensive.  It definitely sounds better than the other cheaper one.  That is until I switch positions of the cables.  Then it doesn't...
B.S. Node 2i brick (yet another one)
Hate to see anyone have problems but never read such a long thread for 600 bucks.  Hopefully you get it sorted out.
Node2i to Aurender N100SC…WoW!
@dhite71  - i know what you mean about digital not being pleasing sometimes.   I've been a tube and vinyl guy for more than 50yrs.  But with the improvements in digital in just the last few years I guess my ears are becoming more foregiving. Or ev...
Node2i to Aurender N100SC…WoW!
@dhite71  - so at first you were impressed but then not.  This is very discouraging as I was ready to upgrade my Node with the N100SC.  Lost the bid so now I guess I'm happy.  I too use vinyl as my primary source.  Pretty good setup too.  But I am...
Has Anyone Compared the DAC On a Bluesound NODE 3rd Gen to a Separate DAC?
@ram85  Been there done that.  ARES II will provide a significant upgrade to the Node's built-in DAC.  Only problem, it's just the starting point to the next DAC upgrade and the one after that :-)  At least is was for me.
Has Anyone Compared the DAC On a Bluesound NODE 3rd Gen to a Separate DAC?
"But I would guess that the limitations on my room and other equipment would make a high end DAC a waste of money, like putting a Ferrari engine in a Subaru.  Nice, but they don’t match." Poor analogy in this case.  Based on your existing room an...
Denafrips Pontus II vs Venus II
@stevebohnil, please let us know how the pc's work out.  I typically use Clear pc's in my systems but did not have an extra one for my new Pontus.
Supra Cat 8 Ethernet cable
The Supra cable (which I also use between my router and Node) is more than likely providing more detail ( brightness) than your other components can handle.  More detail with a midfi system is not always a good thing.
2-3k budget - adding DAC/Server to Bluesound Node?
Ditto to above.  Node to Denafrips Ares II now and very happy.  Pontus II on the way.  Plan to be happier.
This is good Schiit...
Considering the improvement I hear going to a Gumby from the inboard Node DAC, if you don't hear a significant difference going to the Yiggy I'd say you're in the wrong hobby :-)  All kidding aside though if you don't hear a difference I think you...
Any problems streaming 24/192 files to external DAC from Bluesound Node?
I found that using a "good" spdif cable from the Node to three different outboard DAC's made a significant improvement.
Optimal lengths for USB and Ethernet cabling for digital audio
With usb I found 1 1/2 M better than shorter.  With ethernet I did not find there was a difference.
This is good Schiit...
My experience was a little different than above.  First, I did get a significant improvement when upgrading the coax cable.  You don't need to go  crazy  but will have to spend a few hundred bucks.  Secondly, I prefered the inboard Bluesound DAC t...
This is good Schiit...
Did EXACTLY what you are asking.  Started with a Node directly to an amp.  Then added a Freya.  Then added a Gumby.  Each addition was a significant upgrade in SQ including upgrading the cables.
Have you upgraded from a Freya?
Be prepared to spend a sizable sum to get a significant improvement.  I just upgraded from the original Freya to an Atma-Sphere MP 3.  The Atma is 10 times the price of the Freya and considered to be one of the better preamps available at any cost...
