Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?
You can post your system pics but nobody looks at them anyway .... 🤣
My turntable sounds like the speed is too slow
Another way to check speed is time the length of the recording and see if it matches the stated time on the sleave.
PS audio m1200
Hi, I have no experience with the M1200's but I did have the M700's. I used these to drive my 4ohm Kef Reference 5's. Although these have a reasonably high sensitivity I do play them quite loud and the M700's coped admirably with plenty more to gi...
Used PS Audio BHK 300 monoblock or (2) new benchmark ahb2 bridged?
@pinwa  I bought my BHK 300s used about a year ago. I upgraded from the M700s which worked quite well with my Kef Reference 5 spkrs. I have to say the upgrade was significant, I was surprised at the smoothness the amps bought to my system. I have...
Subwoofer
@grislybutter - agree totally I've just added 2 Rel S812 Subs to compliment my Kef Ref 5's. My hifi buddy Rod uses 2 subs with his Wilson Sasha Daws and when I asked him to turn them off I was quite surprised at the difference so, I experimented...
KEF Reference 5 vs KEF Reference 5 Meta.
@curiousjim  HI Jim, last time we messaged you changed your port settings to the small ones and said you might not need the sub anymore. I am looking  into buying 2 Rel S/812 subs to compliment my ref 5's. Have they made much difference to your o...
Thanks to Paul McGowan
@tomcarr  Hi, I bought the PS Audio M700's to run my big Kef Reference 5 speakers. I was really impressed with them given their size and weight. So impressed that I very quickly considered the M1200's as an upgrade. In the end I jumped straight t...
Why do I need a switch?
@curiousjim  that's interesting, the short ports work down to 35Hz and the long ports work down to 32Hz suggesting that the short ports would offer you less bass. If you look at my pics you will see I have similar positioning to you. I am about 1...
Why do I need a switch?
@fredrik222 oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, my ears are my measurements, that's what I go on. I don't buy anything until proven so. You obviously interpret your biases by listening to your measurements 😂 good luck with that!
Why do I need a switch?
Hi Jim (fellow Ref 5 owner) This Pre-Streaming madness blows my mind! I have a DCS Bartok, when connected to my router with a cheap ethernet cable it sounded good. I swapped the cheap cable for an affordable 10m AudioQuest Cinnamon, this gave a ...
Favorite genres for fun listening
Electro Swing Never heard of it before streaming. Artists like Caravan Palace, Caro Emerald and Bart and Baker. Very uplifting and they sound GREAT!
Passion, or ..... Precision?
some great comments on here, thank you all for your replies. I echo what Kingbr says above, it maybe a rabbit hole but its pretty cavernous inside. My somewhat limited CD collection of Rock music does not allow me to explore the potential of my sy...
Passion, or ..... Precision?
mitch2 - 100% agree on listening in the car, best place to exercise the tonsils. I also play rock via 'Alexa' when I'm in the kitchen washing the dishes!!
Passion, or ..... Precision?
All my gear is on a par with regards cost. In 'over-priced' England the Kef Reference 5 is now £17,500, the DCS 15.5k and BHK 16.5k. I bought it all used at just over half price so I'm happy with that. As for training you ears to NOT listen to st...
HT and 2 channel in same room? 1 or 2 systems?
Hi Johns For many years I tried to build a 2 channel system using my home cinema amp but gave up in the end. The DAC in the AV amp simply isn't up to it. I proved this to myself when I bought a Audiolab MDAC+, the difference was amazing. Detail a...
