A little puzzled by my newly acquired Yamaha A-S801
As just a thought, If you want to continue using the CD direct mode, which removes the tone controls from the signal path and provides a cleaner signal you might try a Schiit Loke 4 band equilizer between CD player and the 801. It is not expensive...
Do I need anything additional to my setup for my pro-ject debut 3 turntable?
I would purchase a quality line level preamp (no onboard phonostage or DAC) and a inexpensive outboard phonostage that compliments your TT price wise. Check out Schiit audio for this, they have one for ~$150. Use the BelCanto DAC in fixed volume m...
Vali 2 ++ as a preamp?
You are welcome. Good luck with your system.
Vali 2 ++ as a preamp?
I would try the Wiim streamer directly into the analog input and also with bypassing the Wiim DAC using the Leak 230's DAC and see which is preferred prior to adding other components into your system.
Any phono preamps with volume control?
I would suggest using the SYS with short interconnect cables between it and the Mani.That would also provide switching between TT and streamer.
Advice on making a speaker change
+1 @hilde45  Try a new speaker. Keep the KEFs.
What actually determines volume power? Is it watts?
Let me third the question: what Speakers?
Audiophiles and De-cluttering -- your journey toward both psychic and sonic improvement
@hilde45 I totally support going from 5.1 to 2.1 for home theater.  Less processing = cleaner sound. A pair of quality speakers instead of 5 lessor ones.
Adding a tube amp is a good idea?
Regarding the power match between your speakers and the ARC S80, much would depend on the size of the room and loudness levels desired. They are not difficult to drive impedance/phase angle wise.
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough?
@hilde45  I appreciate your vacation analogy. I enjoy the experience from trying different approaches to this audio hobby. Could not manage it in the past, however now have kids through college and have house paid off.
Thoughts on Speakers for a Small Audio/Video Room
@captouch  I use my Frirz speakers with a PP EL34 tube amp in triode mode (<20wpc) with no problem.  I have also used 2x4' wall mounted acoustic absorption panels  set diagonally across corners of the front wall. The space behind the panels ser...
Which Schitt Audio Equalizer operates as a loudness switch for low level listening
As a loudness control I would think the Loki Mini would be enough at $149.  Now if you need full spectrum EQ....
To Fritz, Quicksilver, and all the exceptional makers trying to get the word out
 I love my Fritz speakers. That said, I live in southern Illinois, Baxter is ~5 hours away, on the way to western North Carolina where my son lives. Just may have to arrange with Greg to hear his Volti speakers one day.
Thoughts on Speakers for a Small Audio/Video Room
My room has very similar dimensions to yours. I use Fritz Carbon 7se MK2 speakers and love them. Regardless of  the speaker used, like others have suggested I would remove some of the side wall panels, leaving a couple at reflection points, and us...
A list of efficient speakers at ~$5K a pair.
@jeffseight  Thanks you. I am in no hurry to sell the Fritz speakers. You are right about the 'highs'. My goal was to develop a system that relied on quality power, not quantity power. Said system best fit my budget. I also believe that the value ...
