Reference disc player...UDP 205 or Marantz?
I can’t answer your question directly as I have never compared the Marantz and Oppo against each other. However, I recently purchased an Oppo UDP-205 and could not be happier with the results. 4K picture quality is simply stunning (110" Stewart sc...
speaker recommendation
I also use a MC275 Mk VI in a modest size room (14.5' x 17.5') and have broad taste in music. Speakers are 40 year old Gale GS401As, you can see and learn about them here:http://www.vintagegale.comNot only does this system sound spectacular, it al...
McIntosh C50 USB Input Not Working
Turns out the problem was relatively simple to fix. Turns out Magnolia (Best Buy) did not send the processor back to McIntosh for repair, they sent it to their own repair center. Here they loaded the processor firmware but not the USB audio firmwa...
Yamaha NS 5000
They are reviewed, very favorably, in the June issue of HiFi News.
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers
For me it is Gale GS401 speakers:www.vintagegale.comNot only do they look spectacular, they sound it to. I actually prefer the sound of the Gale speakers to my B&W Nautilus 801 speakers. See my previous post on these speaker and a TT/Tube base...
McIntosh C50 USB Input Not Working
I have tried connecting another laptop and different USB cables, same problem every time, nothing could detect the USB port on the C50. It's as if the USB port is simply not there or disconnected?
Just retired and want to get back to vinyl listening
Interestingly I was in exactly the same position as you with respect to vinyl listening (Retired, sold my last TT and LPs 33 years ago, $20k budget and now wanted to get back into analog). See my previous post on this subject:https://forum.audiogo...
Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7s? - seeking advice
Everyone is going to think I am crazy, but, here goes. Have you ever thought of something radically different? I use a McIntosh C50/MC275 Mk VI with a pair of refurbished 40 year old Gale GS401A speakers (www.vintagegale.com). The overall sound, v...
What was the most enjoyable system that you ever put together?
At the risk of being repetitive (I have posted this before).  I have just assembled a $20k second system, purchasing all the components in one go. Here is the story. After 33 years I have corrected a terrible mistake I made when I sold my turntabl...
Second System That Sounds And Looks Spectacular - I Am There!
Thank you for your support/comments. Re "reubent's" question about selling the main system (Krell/B&W). No, I will not be doing this, the main system is actually part of a 5.1 front projector HT system, which I am also very happy with. The onl...
Most aesthetic classic turntable
After selling my last TT (Michell Engineering Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference with an SME 3009 MK2 and Stanton 681EEE) 33 years ago, I just got back into vinyl. Only one TT for me, Michell Engineering GyroDec with an SME IV and a Clear Audio Maes...
Can anyone suggest a speaker stand that looks as good as the Grand Prix amp stands?
This is an interesting post, I really like the Focal S900 stands.
How to add center channel to stereo
Accuvoice processing on thé Zvox soundbar makes a very noticeable difference to the resolution of dialog.
If bi-amping is so great, why do some high end speakers not support it?
I tried bi-amping once; B&W N801 speakers and two Pioneer Elite M91 power amps (each 2x200W). Certainly made a difference in my case; detail was more pronounced, dynamics improved and overall just sounded better. Also, two beefy power amps, wi...
2C HiFi Epiphany - Worlds Best System?
No, just the listed music/tracks. However, I am positive a symphony orchestra would sound spectacular on this system. I have heard classical music on other Magico speakers and the sound is always fantastic.
