Feel Silly Asking This Question Alignment Parameters
@thom_at_galibier_design Welcome Thom. I am a big fan of Frank Schroeder. I currently run a CB. The method of setting AS recommended by Frank and Peter is useful for people who have no better way. The problem is defining what a "slowly drift" mea...
Lyra versus Hana
@bobbydd Absolutely no competition. The Lowly Delos is superior to the two Hanas. The Kleos is on another planet. With your speakers you will definitely appreciate the two Lyras. Female voices and violins will be smoother.
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album
@thegoldengoose , Instead of reel to reel I think you should start collecting high resolution (24/96 or higher) digital files in FLAC or ALAC. These files are better sounding, way less expensive and take up no space. You can use either an Apple or...
SME Model 20/12 versus TechDas AirForce V or Suggestions for a 2 tonearm TT
@elliottbnewcombjr and neither turntable is adequately isolated.
Feel Silly Asking This Question Alignment Parameters
There are those that make that argument @lewm. You are either leaning on one wall or the other. My goal is to minimize that as much as is feasible, even it out. An arm that is not offset is ideal as long as it stays right on the tangent.

@lewm You are right Lew. The question is what is the best average over the entire play area.  The amount of AS required increases with the size of the contact patch at any given VTF.  Studying cantilever angles is an extremely fastidious way of go...
SME Model 20/12 versus TechDas AirForce V or Suggestions for a 2 tonearm TT
The V would have to go on a MinusK platform which is another 5K. I do not care much for TechDas products. I think your SME is a better turntable. My first choice would be to sell the Graham and the 312S, mount the CB and you will never look back. ...
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album
@larryi 1+ on Under the Boardwalk. @thegoldengoose I would have to assume you have not heard a top notch rig playing a good pressing. ou would be amazed how quiet a good cartridge/phono stage combination can be.  Certainly, digital files are easi...
Are REL the most Musical Subs?
@jheppe815 Exactly. Which is why the manufacturers continue making second rate subwoofers, they are less expensive and less complicated. My point is that many great systems are better off without subwoofers then employing them in this way which is...
Are REL the most Musical Subs?
Good for you @phusis. Subwoofers should not be musical. They are to be felt more than heard.  Rel, SVS, Rhythmik and even JL Audio are MidFi subwoofers. Aside from inexpensive enclosure construction they are expected to operate with a low pass fi...
What do I need?
@tochsii You can power a home theater with 2 channels just fine. You will not get any surround functions, but you can't miss what you never had.

@wrm57, @lewm The best way to see this is with a naked cantilever. The AS setting depends on the type of stylus used. For 9" arms the range is 9-11%. 9% for spherical, 10% for elliptical and 11% for line contact. I push it to 12% with really aggre...

Speakers better without subwoofers? Crossover and synchronization issues? What do you do
The friend drives his K'temas with a Bricasti Design M25 and I have not heard a dynamic speaker sound better. In this regard I would not change a thing. Up against speakers like Magicos and Wilsons they are dirt cheap and an amazing value. I also ...
Speakers better without subwoofers? Crossover and synchronization issues? What do you do
@emergingsoul I do believe that is a Franco Serblin stunt. What they are doing is relieving the front woofers from having to make long excursions which lowers their distortion dramatically. This is what subwoofers do when used with a two way cross...
