has anyone tried playing an itunes library (on an ext. HD) on a newer mac with imusic? thanks!
will my itunes library on external HD play on the newer Mac music app? I asked on the apple user forum. apparently the answer is that the 'music' app should work fine with my 'iTunes Library.itl' file - but that if not, there are fixes. I'd still like to hear from people who've done it though.
will my itunes library on external HD play on the newer Mac music app? @grinnell: I don't want to import anything to the (hypothetical) newer mac - I just want my 'itunes library' (which is on a HDD) to show up in the 'music' app when I connect the HDD to the (hypothetical) new mac. I'm kind of hoping someone here's ...
will my itunes library on external HD play on the newer Mac music app? oops. the link's about importing files (not what I want to do), but your "Open up the Music app, go to Preferences, then select Files. Add your external drive as a Music Media Folder location" is probably the answer to my question. thanks again.
will my itunes library on external HD play on the newer Mac music app? thanks @yage. that's encouraging, but... I'm not looking to import files onto the new computer's HD, just want it to play the files on my external HD the same way itunes does on my existing mac.
will my itunes library on external HD play on the newer Mac music app? I understand that itunes doesn't 'own' the library. when I connect my HD to my older itunes-containing mac, it shows up in the finder as 'itunes library'. my question is whether the newer macs, which no longer have itunes, will 'see' the library a...
loud intermittent pops from DAC, possibly related to long USB cable from computer thanks for your input!
loud intermittent pops from DAC, possibly related to long USB cable from computer @carlsbad you were right: the active extender must've gotten damaged when I reconfigured the stereo. on the advice of the guy at Benchmark, I got a 25' USB cable instead of replacing the extender cable; he said spec for USB is 15', but they'd used...
loud intermittent pops from DAC, possibly related to long USB cable from computer @carlsbad: thanks - that's about the only thing that makes sense. I'll wait a bit, but if the problem persists, I can get another active extender cable for ~ $20 from amazon; if that doesn't help I can just return it.
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one @jbs thanks for the suggestion. the reviews of the mac version of teracopy are really negative, but I'll definitely check out more mac-friendly applications that do the same thing.
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one @noromance breaking up my itunes library would be a major PIA, and since I'm able to do this action with other drives, not worth the trouble@fuzztone I was able to transfer the files using a different source to 2 different HDs, each of which has i...
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one @tom6897 the problem SSD is western digital. I had another copy on a seagate HDD. I was able to transfer that copy to a 2nd western digital. @danager I can't skip the file; it automatically aborts, doesn't give me that option. each of the 3x I tri...
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one @fuzztone: I tried to copy it to 3 different drives with no luck. I was able to transfer to one of those drives using a different source, so I think it's the HDD I'm trying to copy. it's solid-state, if that tells you anything.@cd318: I didn't hav...
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one I have a mac (OS 10.13.6). I did see something online about software for copying HDs - maybe I'll go back, try to find the link, try that. thanks.
Problem duplicating my external HD onto another one I did try restarting - no help. thanks! |
