Audiophile frame of mind
I've had a nice Weber with side burner for over 10 years, couple of years ago I decided to go all "analog" with my grilling and bought a Kamado Joe. The Weber hardly gets used anymore. :)
Accuphase or Leben for heavy metal
You really can't make broad generalizations about Metal, there are so many different subgenres! Even these below get broken down even further. Some types have excellent production while others are compressed and poorly recorded on purpose :)   ...
Speakers, floor standing or Bookshelfs
@simonmoon  All valid points you have there. Like everything in this hobby it depends on what sounds best to owner of the system. I have dabbled with DSP and REW, but in the end with my gear and in my room the best result came without it. I gues...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
@grislybutter  were you privy to all the interactions between Eric and Erin? You speak as though you were. If you have all the facts then good, but please don't pretend to be all knowing on the subject if you don't.  My original post was meant t...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
@grislybutter So you are saying the using the justice system to correct something that has wronged you is akin to shooting someone? This is the sort of fantastical talk that gets the lynch mob going as I mentioned in my previous post.
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
I think people should put themselves in his place. You wake up one morning and see a video about something that you created and it has what you believe to be false information. Okay, you're not happy about it and contact the video maker. Maybe th...
Speakers, floor standing or Bookshelfs
For me, it's large towers preferably, running full range (not crossed over) and a couple of subwoofers. I'm of the mind, If you like the sound of your speakers why remove part of their character and then try to replace it using the sub?  Running ...
Is There a New Record Pressing Machine Out There?
I actually received a 180g record (Capital Records) that had around half of the circumference squared off while the other half was a normal lip. I returned it even though it played okay. I wonder if yours is a mistake too?
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
I don't understand how some can offended by Tekton building $30,000 speakers. A lot of companies make speakers that span a large price range. Take B&W for instance, they sell the $100,000 Nautilus right down to $800 600 series. As for people...
What makes a good hotel speaker?
I have never been to an audio show, but to me, your statement that the speakers in smaller rooms sound better makes sense. The set up probably has a more near field listening position, which means less interference to the sound from a bad room.
Found a Milty Zerostat alternative
@lewm I described how I used it in the original post, so I figured all would know that I already have bought it.  @rauliruegas Sorry if there was any confusion. @ketchup That's also good use for it, thanks! I never had any issues with static in...
Found a Milty Zerostat alternative
@rauliruegas I don't post much and I just wanted to share this information with others who may be interested. No need for you to be posting ignorant and unhelpful responses.  @lewm I never had a zero stat so I can't compare the two, but it did re...
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
@fynnegan Room treatments can be removable and are able to be customized to blend in with the décor if need be. Even a nice thick rug on a bare hard floor can make a difference. I think anyone who loves great sound owes it to themselves to learn a...
Still looking for a new Moving Coil Cartridge
I just read through this thread and was surprised to see that you ended up with a 540ML. As I was going through I kept thinking that's what you need. I'm sure this cart gets ignored just because of its price. I can enjoy all my records with it, w...
