ZEN Mini S vs. Small Green Computer Sonic Transporter i5 music server/Ultra Rendu Streamer
A couple of questions answered: 1. Which CD/DVD ripper do you use?  Same question for the ripping software?  Windows or MAC? I use DBPoweramp ripping software. The CD/DVD mechanism is an internal Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical ...

Which ARC ref linestage to try: Ref3, Ref5, Ref5SE? HATE forward sounding systems
I had previously owned several ARC Pre-amps/line stages including an SP-3, LS-3, LS-17SE and now the LS-28 for the last 5 1/2 years. The LS-28 is paired with an ARC VT-80SE amp and I’m seriously impressed. It is head and shoulders above any of the...
Which ARC ref linestage to try: Ref3, Ref5, Ref5SE? HATE forward sounding systems
Try an ARC LS-28 line stage.
20amp v 15amp
At minimum you need a power cord with a 20-amp IEC-C19 plug end and the other end with a standard 15amp IEC male plug. See AudioQuest Monsoon Power Cable (2 meters/6.5 feet) Power cable with 20-amp IEC-C19 plug at Crutchfield As a preferred upgrad...
Dedicated circuits
Yes, in theory your thinking is correct and as long as the installation is up to code (which it may be) in your area, you should be fine. Remember that local electrical code inspectors can vary in their understanding and interpretation of electric...
Dedicated circuits
If you have an electrical fire as a result of your non-NEC code compliant installation, your insurance can deny your claim. In order to make this code compliant, you need to put a 20-amp breaker before a 20-amp receptacle. I think folks should be...
Router for Audio Streaming
This system doesn’t offer a dedicated radio band for wireless backhaul. Instead it uses a "dynamic" approach where the wireless backhaul uses the least trafficked WiFi frequency/channel rather than a separate & dedicated one. The TP-Link Deco ...
Router for Audio Streaming
I would install it now. There is a difference in technology between functionally and technically obsolescence. Hardware can still work but does not have the benefits (performance & security) of the rapidly advancing underlying technology. I su...
Router for Audio Streaming
I would look into a mesh router system. I've had good luck with the Netgear Orbi series and the Synology line of routers. Older routers may still function but lack many of the newer WiFi standards and may no longer receive security updates from th...
Looking for Desktop Computer Speakers recommendations
I'm using and very happy with the Audioengine A2+ Plus speakers. Compact, very quiet, low distortion and a good $ value.
6H30 replacement
Why would  Pathos Heritage use the 6H30 if it was inferior to these legacy tubes? Feel free to tube roll but maybe you are better off getting rid of this piece for one that is designed for legacy tube rolling which have a better selection of varia...
Ethernet patch panel and network switch question
If you want to try a mod that actually may improve your streaming network, check out the following article in Absolute Sound: How To Optimize Digital Streaming With Optical Fiber - Page 2 of 2 - The Absolute Sound Having a fiber Ethernet connect...
Ethernet patch panel and network switch question
You don't need to do any of this in my opinion. Is your system currently performing well as-is? What problem are you trying to solve? If you are happy with it just leave it alone as most of these suggestions from an IT standpoint are in no way goi...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
Nice system! I need to clarify as I may have caused confusion on this point. I meant that from the main mesh router and/or it's switch connect the mesh satellites using a star wiring topology configuration so that each satellite mesh router is...
