Anything Steely DanI was never a huge fan back in the day, but I recently got the remastered AJA, and it's so good!
Wild anecdote on variables in a listening room / studio (from Darko)
I should have expected snark ;)If you’ve read Jim Smith’s book, "Get Better Sound", he discusses the importance of the room, and what a big part proper tuning and acoustic treatment of the listening room makes in getting the most out of one’s hifi...
Vandersteen Moel 2Ce better than Model 1B used in midsize room
I have the newest 2CE, the Signature 3 (they replaced 20 year old 2CE's...I guess you can conclude I like the Vandy sound!).My room is about 12x15 with the speakers on the long wall. I’m about 8 feet from the speakers. They sound excellent. The ne...
A true audiophile can put together a resolving and enjoyable system for under $15k.

Keith Jarrett on the importance of audio sound quality
Thanks for sharing. I need to listen to more by him, but I have the Koln concert and adore it.
DAVE w/ or w/out M Scaler?
I'm curious about the Chord Hugo TT2 with and without the Scaler. I've been told it's amazing too.

Is static the culprit?
I have an Odyssey Khartago++ (upgraded version) and realized after some time with it that I had a low level buzz/hum coming from both speakers, a grounding issue I was told. I didn't realize it was abnormal I guess. My previous amp, a McCormack DN...
Which integrated amplifier .
mcmvmx -So sorry that you are not winning the fight against that damn cancer. Godspeed. If your daughter isn't a hi-fi nut, the simplest system possible might be best. Maybe you can find a good dealer to trade in your current system for something...
Speakers which always sound good
LARSEN! Either the 6, the 8, or best, the 9 (the 8 sounds as good, I’m told, but the 9 is prettier). They put up a wall of sound that is unique, can go against the wall (preferred), and are very much like live music. In a living room, they fill th...
McCormack DNA with Schiit Preamp?
Do you want a preamp or passive line stage? I ran a Reference Line Preeminence One passive linestage for years with my DNA-1, and it was great. Straight wire, no gain. I didn’t need a phono stage and used the DAC in my old CD player. I decided I w...
KEF LS50 - Question
Taking a page out of B&W's book, KEF's PR team is now much larger than their design team. The rest is... history.I wondered about that.
